Runway ML pricing starts at $0 on Free, with 125 one-time credits. Standard, Pro and Max cost $12, $28 or $76 per month billed annually, or $15, $35 or $95 billed monthly, for one creator. Team costs $55 per seat per month billed yearly, and Enterprise is a custom quote.

Every generation spends credits: Gen-4.5 video uses 12 credits per second, so Standard’s 625 monthly credits buy 52 seconds. I checked every figure on Runway’s own pages on October 17, 2026.

How Many Seconds of Video and Images Runway Credits Buy

Gen-4.5 uses 12 credits per second, so a 5-second clip costs 60 credits and a 10-second clip 120. Standard covers 10 five-second clips a month, Pro 37 and Max 158.

Generations per month by plan, Runway credit rates checked Oct 2026

Sources: Runway pricing page model table and How do credits work?, checked October 17, 2026. Counts are credits divided by the rate, rounded down; the Team column is my arithmetic.

Seedance 2.0 Pro is the priciest video row at 160 / 4 = 40 credits a second; my Seedance pricing guide covers its costs outside Runway.

An hour of finished Gen-4.5 video is 3,600 x 12 = 43,200 credits, more than four months of Max. Each model uses a set number of credits per generation, by duration and resolution. Audio is cheap: Seed Audio 1.0 uses 15 credits per minute.

The Real Cost per Second of Runway Video

On annual billing, one second of Gen-4.5 video costs $12 x 12 / 625 = $0.23 in Standard credits but $76 x 12 / 9,500 = $0.096 in Max credits.

PlanPer credit, billed annuallyPer credit, billed monthly
Standard$12 / 625 = $0.0192$15 / 625 = $0.024

A purchased credit beats a Standard or Pro credit on either billing: a second of Gen-4.5 on purchased credits costs 12 x $0.01 = $0.12.

Runway Pricing Plans Explained

Each step up to Max adds credits, but the reason to move is usually a feature: Pro adds a voice clone, Max adds rollover and ProRes, Team pools credits and Enterprise adds SSO. My Runway review judges the models; here the question is price.

Free: 125 One-Time Credits to Test Models

Runway has a $0 Free plan, but it works as a test budget: its 125 credits arrive once and never refresh. Videos carry a Runway watermark, and Free accounts cannot buy more credits.

If Gen-4.5 is in the Free selection, at 60 credits per 5-second clip, 125 credits cover two clips (2 x 60 = 120). Runway changes the Free model selection and shows it only after you log in.

Standard: $12 to $15 a Month for Occasional Creators

Standard, the entry paid plan, buys 625 credits a month for $15 billed monthly, or $12 per month billed annually. It removes the watermark and adds 4K upscaling, 5 parallel generations and up to 3 projects. The Standard card also lists the agentic creative collaborator and music, voice and sound effects generation.

Plan credits reset within 24 hours of the billing date. Running short is not a reason to upgrade: one 1,000-credit purchase gives 625 + 1,000 = 1,625 credits for $12 + $10 = $22 on annual billing, and purchased credits never expire.

Confirm your model opens on Standard before paying for a year.

Pro: 2,250 Credits and a Voice Clone for Regular Creators

Pro costs $35 per month billed monthly, or $28 per month billed annually, for 2,250 credits. It adds 1 custom voice clone, unlimited 4K video upscaling, 15 parallel generations, up to 5 projects and 1 Brand Kit.

Pro is a features upgrade more than a credits upgrade. On monthly billing, two purchases (2 x $10 = $20) on Standard cost $15 + $20 = $35 for 625 + 2,000 = 2,625 credits. On annual billing, Pro’s $28 undercuts that route at $12 + $20 = $32.

Pro storage differs between Runway’s pages: the Pro plan details list 500GB, while the pricing page’s Pro card lists 100GB. I use 100GB as the plan value; confirm storage at checkout.

Max: 9,500 Credits for Heavy Solo Production

Max costs $95 per month billed monthly, or $76 per month billed annually, for 9,500 credits with one month of rollover. It adds HDR, ProRes and image sequences, 3 custom voice clones, 20 parallel generations, up to 10 projects and early access to new models.

On annual billing, Max wins once your credit use passes 6,625 a month. Below that, six purchases (6 x $10 = $60) on Standard cost $12 + $60 = $72 for 625 + 6,000 = 6,625 credits.

Above it, Max at $76 beats Standard plus seven purchases ($12 + $70 = $82, with 7 x $10 = $70) and Pro plus five ($28 + $50 = $78, with 5 x $10 = $50). On monthly billing, a Max credit costs the same $0.01 as a purchased one, but purchases need a plan fee.

Eight purchases (8 x $10 = $80) on Standard cost $15 + $80 = $95 for 625 + 8,000 = 8,625 credits. Max gives 9,500 credits for the same $95, so on monthly billing Max wins once your monthly use passes that Standard total.

ProRes and PNG sequences come out of Tool Mode and Edit Studio; generations made in Workflows or with Runway Agent arrive as MP4 files.

Team: Multi-Seat Pricing at $55 per Seat for 2 to 9 Creators

Team costs $69 per seat per month, or $55 per seat per month billed yearly, for creative teams of two to nine people. Each seat adds 6,900 credits a month to one shared pool the moment it is added, with one month of rollover.

In a multi-user Team workspace, all members draw from that one balance, not from individual per-member balances.

Runway Team pricing card with the 6,900 credits per seat line outlined
Runway team seat page, plans and prices, highlight added, runway.com, captured Oct 2026

Team includes everything in Max plus up to 100 shared projects, frame-accurate comments, 24 parallel generations, API access and priority support.

Two seats billed yearly cost $55 x 2 = $110 a month for 6,900 x 2 = 13,800 pooled credits. Two Max accounts cost $76 x 2 = $152 for 9,500 x 2 = 19,000 credits in separate balances. Team wins when the pair shares projects; two Pro accounts at $28 x 2 = $56 win for light, separate work.

Enterprise: Custom Pricing for 10+ People

Enterprise has no published price: Runway lists it as Custom with a Talk to Sales button. It adds unlimited members and workspaces, SSO, SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001, no training on your data, and roles and permissions.

Its annual contract credits do not roll over at year end. Enterprise workspaces can use credit caps and spend notifications, and credits can move to an API account.

Unlimited (Legacy): What Happens on November 30, 2026

You can no longer buy Unlimited: Runway stopped offering it on June 1, 2026. Unlimited gave 2,250 credits plus Explore Mode for unlimited relaxed generations; its replacement, Max, gives 9,500 credits and rollover but no Explore Mode.

Pricing note

Legacy Unlimited plans stay unchanged through November 30, 2026. Monthly subscribers then move to Max at the same $95 a month unless they cancel; annual subscribers choose in November between a refund of the remaining months and a credits bonus to move to Max.

Annual billing does not hand you a year of credits at once: plan credits still refresh monthly. Pay monthly for a month or two, measure your use, then switch.

Upgrades, downgrades and refunds

According to Runway’s pricing FAQ, upgrades are prorated and take effect at once, with the extra credits added right away. A downgrade keeps the current plan until the cycle ends and credits the unused balance to the next bill.

According to Runway’s refund policy, a refund is at Runway’s discretion within 30 days of a purchase or renewal, if the plan is unused or close to it. A granted refund drops the account to Free and removes unused plan credits; app store purchases go through Apple or Google.

Extra Credits and Other Costs on Top of a Runway Plan

The main extra is purchased credits: at least 1,000 at a time, starting at $10 ($0.01 per credit), never expiring, and spent after plan and rollover credits. Free accounts cannot buy them.

How Much Does Runway Cost for Your Workload or Team?

Billed annually, Runway costs from $12 x 12 = $144 a year for one creator on Standard to $55 x 5 x 12 = $3,300 a year for a five-seat Team, and your monthly credit use decides which plan you need.

Runway cost calculator

This calculator needs JavaScript. The scenario table below gives the same estimate for typical workloads.

Enter your monthly clips, images or audio minutes, pick a billing basis, and tick ProRes, a voice clone or rollover if needed. Set the seats for Team, which is priced per seat for 2 to 9 seats.

The calculator compares Standard, Pro, Max and Team and names the cheapest plan whose own monthly credits cover your month, before any credit purchase. It leaves out tax and credit purchase prices.

On annual billing, a lower plan plus purchases costs less than Max below 625 + 6 x 1,000 = 6,625 credits a month.

The table prices four illustrative workloads: solo creators making 10, 35 or 150 five-second Gen-4.5 clips a month, and a team of 5 making 100 each.

No total counts tax, credit purchases, API usage or a separate editing tool.

Which Runway Plan Should You Choose?

Pick Standard for a few clips a month, Pro for a voice clone or weekly output, Max above about 625 + 6 x 1,000 = 6,625 credits a month on annual billing or for ProRes, and Team for 2 to 9 people. If you run short only some months, stay on Standard and buy credits.

Is Runway Worth the Price?

Runway is worth it if you will spend most of a monthly allowance across several models in one workspace. The economics favour volume: on annual billing a Max credit costs $76 / 9,500 = $0.008, while a Standard credit costs $12 / 625 = $0.0192, 2.4 times as much.

Skip it if:
you depend on unlimited relaxed retries, which end with Unlimited; or you want API automation, which runs on separate credits.

How I Verified Runway Pricing

Every price and credit rate comes from Runway’s own pages, checked on October 17, 2026, for the US region in USD. I read the pricing page in its Yearly and Monthly views, the Team plan page, nine help center articles and the API pricing docs.

Per-credit prices, break-even points and scenario totals are my calculations (monthly price times seats times the months billed, credits divided by the rate). No plan was tested. The pricing page shows Enterprise as Custom, and the minimum credit purchase is 1,000 credits.

Where Runway’s own pages disagree

I use the pricing page for plan values, because buyers subscribe from it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Runway credits roll over?

Only on Max and Team, for up to one month. Standard and Pro plan credits expire on the billing date, and Enterprise annual credits do not roll over. Purchased credits and Free’s one-time credits never expire, but if you cancel a paid plan, Runway resets your balance to 0.

Can I use Runway app credits for the API?

No, not on self-serve plans. API credits are a separate balance bought at $0.01 per credit in the developer portal, and app credits never appear there.

The API prices real-time avatars (gwm1_avatars) at 2 credits upfront, then 2 credits per 6 seconds. Enterprise accounts can transfer credits between web workspaces and an API account.

What happens to my credits if I upgrade mid-cycle?

Credits refresh at once to the new plan’s allowance, minus what you already spent this cycle, and you pay the prorated difference. Moving to Team carries your remaining credits over and moves your billing date to the upgrade day.

Can I add or remove Team seats at any time?

Yes. The workspace owner can add or remove seats at any time, and each new seat adds 6,900 credits to the pool right away. Inviting collaborators needs Team or higher, so individual plans cannot share a balance.

Final Pricing Verdict

For most solo creators, start Standard at $15 billed monthly, watch your credit use, then switch to $12 a month billed annually if 625 credits cover you. Pro fits weekly output, a voice clone or unlimited 4K video upscaling.

Move to Max at $76 a month billed annually once your credit use passes about 6,625 a month; below that, a lower plan plus purchases costs less. Teams of 2 to 9 should price Team at $55 per seat billed yearly, and Unlimited holders should choose Max or cancel before November 30, 2026.
