Freshdesk is a sound buy for email-first support teams that can start on Growth at $19 per agent per month, billed annually. Most teams past a single queue will need Pro at $55 for multiple SLA policies, round-robin routing and the Copilot add-on.
This Freshdesk review rests on Freshworks’ own pricing, product and trust pages, read on October 20, 2026. The pricing page lists three paid plans, a 14-day trial on Enterprise and no free plan.

Quick verdict
- Worth it for: email-first teams of about 3-50 agents that want dispatch rules, automations, SAML SSO and an email AI agent from $19 per agent per month, billed annually.
- Skip it if: you work mostly in chat on a tight budget, or plan heavy AI deflection: chat needs Freshdesk Omni from $29, and AI sessions cost $49 per 100 after the first 500.
- Main strength: automations, role-based access and single sign-on sit on the entry plan.
- Biggest limit: multiple SLA policies, round robin, portal branding and Copilot start on Pro at $55.
- Price basis: per agent per month; monthly billing raises Growth, Pro and Enterprise to $23, $66 and $107.

- Best for: email-first support teams of about 3-50 agents
- Starting price: $19 per agent per month billed annually (Growth), $23 billed monthly
- Free plan or trial: no free plan on the pricing page; a 14-day trial on the Enterprise plan

- Main limitation: multiple SLA policies, round robin and Copilot start on Pro at $55 per agent per month, billed annually
Freshdesk is not Freshservice, the Freshworks product for internal IT requests. This review covers the customer-facing help desk and treats Omni as its upgrade path.
Freshdesk Pros and Cons
Freshdesk’s main disadvantages are plan gates: Growth lacks tiered SLAs, round robin and Copilot, and AI sessions turn paid after the first 500. Its strengths are the rules, access controls and AI agent already on the entry plan.
Pros
- Dispatch rules, time- and event-based automations, role-based access and SAML single sign-on come on every plan, which helps a small team pass an IT review on Growth.
- AI Agent Studio and the Email AI Agent are on every plan with 500 sessions to try, so a team can measure deflection before buying packs.
- Freddy AI Copilot is assigned to any number of agents you choose, so a 10-agent team can buy it for 3 senior agents only.
- Day passes from $2 per agent per day on Growth cover a seasonal spike without a full seat.
- The 14-day trial runs on Enterprise, so you see every Enterprise-plan feature before choosing.
Cons
- Growth has no multiple SLA policies, round robin or portal branding, which hurts teams with VIP customers or a customer-facing brand.
- Growth’s add-on list has no Copilot, so AI reply drafting means Pro at $55 plus $29 per agent.
- The 500 AI Agent sessions come once per account; after that, every 100 sessions cost $49, and packs expire with the billing cycle.
- Chat and messaging need Freshdesk Omni, from $29 per agent per month billed annually.
- Sandbox, audit logs and IP allowlisting are Enterprise-only at $89, a steep step for teams that only need governance.
- Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the term, so an annual buyer who over-buys Pro pays for it all year.
Since most cons are plan gates, the real question is which features are worth the next plan.
Freshdesk Features
The features that decide a Freshdesk purchase are routing and SLAs, the two Freddy AI products, reporting, the customer portal and the Omni channels. Each is gated differently, so check the plan named under each one.
Ticketing, dispatch rules and SLAs
Freshdesk routes and escalates tickets by rule on every plan: ticket dispatch sorts and assigns by your business rules, and automations fire on time- and event-based triggers. If those terms are new, how a ticketing system works covers the basics.
Multiple SLA policies, round-robin and load-balanced assignment, multiple business hours, ticket templates and advanced custom fields start on Pro. Skill-based assignment and agent shifts are Enterprise-only.
Freshdesk Omni’s ticketing includes agent collision detection and agent status on all three Omni plans, from Omni Growth. I would weigh both once several agents work one shared queue.
A team that promises VIP accounts a faster reply than everyone else needs a second SLA policy, which means Pro. A team with one queue and one service level can stay on Growth’s dispatch rules.
Freddy AI Agent and session pricing
Every plan includes AI Agent Studio and the Email AI Agent with the first 500 sessions, once per account; then Freshworks charges $49 per 100 sessions. An email session is a 72-hour window from the customer’s first email, however many AI replies it holds.
Packs expire with your payment cycle, so unused sessions do not roll over. At 1,000 AI conversations a month after the 500 are spent, packs cost $49 x 10 = $490 a month, more than Growth seats for 20 agents ($19 x 20 = $380).
Before planning for that volume, map which AI customer service workflows your tickets can hand to an agent. Freshworks’ homepage advertises “up to 80%” resolution rates; that is its marketing figure, and your ticket mix decides yours.
Freddy AI Copilot
Freddy AI Copilot is an add-on on Pro and Enterprise only: $29 per agent per month billed annually, or $35 billed monthly, for as many agents as you choose. It bundles reply drafting with tone and a quality coach, live translation in 60+ languages, summaries, similar-ticket and article suggestions, and sentiment analysis.

Intercom charges the same $29 annually or $35 monthly for its Copilot. On Freshdesk, the real cost is the plan it requires: a Growth team pays $55 – $19 = $36 more per agent per month for Pro first.
Reporting and dashboards
Standard reports, real-time dashboards and Benchmark Insights, a monthly scorecard, come on every plan. Custom dashboards per team and the agent availability dashboard need Pro. Freddy AI Insights (alerts with root-cause analysis, reports built from a typed question) and custom object analysis are Enterprise-only.
A manager who wants one dashboard per team hits the Pro gate first.
Portal, knowledge base and customization
A customer portal and knowledge base come on every plan, but portal customization (your logo and brand colors), community forums, multilingual translations and article versioning start on Pro. The approval workflow and nested folder hierarchy are Enterprise-only.
Portal customization, which adds your logo and brand colors, starts on Pro ($55). For a brand whose customers see the help center, that alone can justify Pro.
Freshdesk Omni: chat, messaging and voice options
Chat and messaging apps belong to Freshdesk Omni, a separate edition at $29, $79 and $119 per agent per month billed annually ($35, $95 and $143 billed monthly). Omni adds the Command Center workspace and a conversational AI agent for chat and messaging apps in 60+ languages.
Bring your own channel and bring your own telephony start on Omni Pro, and custom objects on Omni Enterprise. A chat AI session lasts 24 hours from its start, against the 72-hour email window.
For 10 agents billed annually, Omni Growth costs $29 x 10 x 12 = $3,480 a year against $19 x 10 x 12 = $2,280 for Freshdesk Growth. Phone on Omni means bring your own telephony, your own number and carrier, from Omni Pro. Voice-first teams should compare customer service platforms with voice.
Freshdesk Ease of Use
Freshworks documents guided tours, quick-start walkthroughs and onboarding flows, and includes free AI onboarding to set up its AI agents. The catch is the trial: it runs on Enterprise for 14 days, so a Growth or Pro buyer tests features it will lose on day 15.

During the trial, set up only what your target plan includes, and note which of these you rely on:
- a second SLA policy or round-robin assignment (Pro)
- a portal with your logo and colors (Pro)
- skill-based routing or a sandbox (Enterprise)
- Copilot drafts and summaries (Pro or Enterprise, paid add-on)
Freshdesk Pricing
Freshdesk costs $19 for Growth, $55 for Pro and $89 for Enterprise per agent per month billed annually, or $23, $66 and $107 billed monthly. Copilot adds $29 per agent per month on Pro or Enterprise, and AI sessions cost $49 per 100 after the first 500.
Freshworks prices every Freshdesk plan per agent per month in US dollars and labels annual billing “Save 20%”.

| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Key limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $19 per agent/ | $23 per agent/ | No multiple SLA policies, round robin, portal branding or Copilot |
| Pro | $55 per agent/ | $66 per agent/ | No skill-based routing, sandbox or audit logs |
| Enterprise | $89 per agent/ | $107 per agent/ | Copilot is still a paid add-on |
| Copilot add-on (Pro, Enterprise) | $29 per agent/ | $35 per agent/ | No day passes |
| Extra AI Agent sessions | $49 per 100 sessions | $49 per 100 sessions | First 500 sessions once per account |
Sources: Freshdesk pricing page, annual and monthly views, checked October 2026.
Monthly billing costs $23 – $19 = $4 more per Growth agent and $66 – $55 = $11 more per Pro agent each month. Pay monthly while you confirm the plan, because downgrades wait for the end of the term.

I would start a single-queue email team of up to about 15 agents on Growth. The limit that forces the upgrade to Pro is usually a second SLA policy or Copilot; Enterprise earns its $89 only when a sandbox, audit logs or skill-based routing is a requirement.
The AI allowance does not renew
The 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions are a one-time allowance per account, not a monthly one. Budget for packs at $49 per 100 from the month the AI agent starts answering real volume.
What a team really pays
A 10-agent Pro team with Copilot for everyone pays more for Copilot than half its seat cost. The table shows three team sizes at list price.
| Team | Plan | Yearly cost, billed annually | Yearly cost, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 agents, one email queue | Growth | $19 x 5 x 12 = $1,140 | $23 x 5 x 12 = $1,380 |
| 10 agents, tiered SLAs, Copilot for all | Pro + Copilot | $55 x 10 x 12 = $6,600 plus $29 x 10 x 12 = $3,480, which is $10,080 | $66 x 10 x 12 = $7,920 plus $35 x 10 x 12 = $4,200, which is $12,120 |
| 25 agents, sandbox and audit logs | Enterprise | $89 x 25 x 12 = $26,700 | $107 x 25 x 12 = $32,100 |

Assumptions: US list prices, no tax, every agent a full seat. The totals leave out extra AI sessions, connector app tasks ($80 per 5,000), extra MCP actions ($15 per 1,000) and day passes. Buying Copilot for a few senior agents first keeps the 10-agent bill near the $6,600 seat total.
AI sessions add up by the year too: 1,000 sessions a month after the first 500 cost $49 x 10 x 12 = $5,880 a year.
What forces an upgrade
Each move up the ladder has a trigger you can name before you buy.
| Trigger | Plan you need | Price per agent/ |
|---|---|---|
| A second SLA policy or round-robin assignment | Pro | $55 |
| Your logo and colors on the portal | Pro | $55 |
| Custom dashboards per team | Pro | $55 |
| Copilot drafts and summaries | Pro plus Copilot | $55 plus $29 |
| Skill-based routing, sandbox or audit logs | Enterprise | $89 |
| Live chat or messaging apps | Freshdesk Omni Growth | $29 |
| Phone through your own number and carrier (bring your own telephony) | Freshdesk Omni Pro | $79 |

The Pro card lists multiple SLA policies, the gate a team with tiered customers hits first.

Integrations, Security and Support
The marketplace’s most-installed apps include Microsoft Teams, Slack, Atlassian Jira Plus, Google Calendar and Freshsales Suite, and all eight on that list are marked free. Freshsales Suite shows CRM records inside a ticket, useful if sales already works in Freshsales CRM.
Two integration costs are metered. Connector apps consume tasks billed at $80 per 5,000, and MCP actions come at 1,200, 6,000 and 12,000 a year on Growth, Pro and Enterprise, with extra packs at $15 per 1,000.
SAML single sign-on and role-based access come on every plan; JWT authentication, audit logs and IP whitelisting are Enterprise-only. Freshworks’ Trust Center publishes its ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certificates and sends SOC 2 Type 2 reports on request.
Its security page states AES 256-bit encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 in transit and daily snapshots kept for seven days. Neither pricing page mentions HIPAA or names data-center regions, so a regulated team should ask security@freshworks.com before signing.
Freshworks runs a support center with a community, video library, agent training and professional services. The pricing page does not say which support channels each plan includes.
Who Should Use Freshdesk?
Freshdesk suits teams whose customers mostly write in and who need rules and automations from day one. It fits chat-first teams and AI-heavy plans less well.
Best for
- An email-first team of 3-15 agents with one queue and one service level, which Growth covers at $19 per agent per month
- A 10-50 agent team that needs tiered SLAs and round-robin assignment, which start on Pro
- A team facing a security review, with Freshworks’ ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate and SAML SSO on every plan
- A team with seasonal spikes, using day passes from $2 per agent per day
Not ideal for
- A chat-first team on a tight budget: chat needs Omni Growth at $29, while Help Scout’s $25 Standard plan includes live chat
- A team planning high-volume AI deflection, since sessions after the one-time 500 cost $49 per 100
- A team that needs a sandbox or audit logs for less than Enterprise’s $89 per agent
- An internal IT service desk, which is what Freshservice is for

Freshdesk vs Competitors
Freshdesk’s email edition starts at the same $19 per agent per month as Zendesk Support Team, and Omni Growth at $29 costs less per agent than Zendesk Suite Team at $55, both paid yearly. Help Scout Standard, its first paid plan at $25 per user per month on the Annual view, and Intercom Essential include live chat.
| Software | Best for | Starting price | Key difference | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk | Email-first teams of 3-50 agents | $19 per agent/ | Automations, SSO and an email AI agent on the entry plan | Chat needs Omni; SLAs and Copilot need Pro |
| Zendesk | Teams that want one suite for every channel | $19 per agent/ | Suite Team adds unified channels and AI agents at $55 | Multichannel seats cost more than Omni Growth |
| Help Scout | Small teams that want chat and a free start | Free plan for 5 users; Standard $25 per user/ | Live chat, SMS and WhatsApp on Standard | Round robin waits for Plus at $45 |
| Intercom | Chat-first teams that accept usage-based AI | $19 per seat/ | Messenger live chat on Essential | Fin AI Agent adds $0.99 per outcome |
Sources: Freshdesk pricing, Zendesk pricing, Help Scout pricing (Annual view) and Intercom pricing, checked October 2026.
For 10 multichannel seats paid yearly, Zendesk Suite Team costs $55 x 10 x 12 = $6,600 against Omni Growth’s $29 x 10 x 12 = $3,480, though the feature sets differ. My Zendesk review covers that suite in depth.
The Zendesk side of the bill grows with AI add-ons, which Zendesk’s plan and AI costs breaks down.
For five chat agents, Help Scout Standard comes to $25 x 5 x 12 = $1,500 a year on the Annual view, against $29 x 5 x 12 = $1,740 on Omni Growth. The Help Scout review shows where its simpler setup stops.
Intercom charges $0.99 per Fin AI Agent outcome where Freshdesk sells sessions at $49 per 100, so the cheaper AI depends on how many conversations end without a human. My Intercom review explains the per-outcome model.
Best Freshdesk Alternatives
Zendesk fits a team that wants email, messaging and phone in one suite and can pay $55 per agent for Suite Team. Help Scout fits a small team that wants a free plan, or chat on Standard, its first paid plan, and Intercom a team whose support starts in a chat widget.

How I Evaluated Freshdesk
I read Freshdesk’s and Freshdesk Omni’s pricing pages on both billing views, the Copilot and product pages, the marketplace, and Freshworks’ security page, Trust Center and support center on October 20, 2026. I read Zendesk’s, Help Scout’s and Intercom’s pricing pages the same day.
Prices, plan gates and limits come from those official pages; the cost tables, plan-fit calls and upgrade triggers are my analysis. Freshworks does not publish per-plan support channels, an app count, HIPAA terms or its data-center regions on those pages.
Freshworks says on its Freshdesk homepage that it was named a Leader in G2’s Spring 2026 Mid-Market Grid Report and won the TrustRadius Buyer’s Choice Award for 2026.
Freshdesk Review FAQ
Can I cancel Freshdesk anytime?
Yes, and Freshdesk charges no cancellation fee, but the cancellation takes effect only at the end of your paid term. Downgrades work the same way, while upgrades apply at once. On annual billing, a plan you over-bought stays on the bill until the year ends, so settle the plan during the trial.
Can seasonal agents use Freshdesk without a full seat?
Yes, day passes give an occasional agent one day of access instead of a full license, at $2 per pass on Growth, $7 on Pro and $12 on Enterprise. On Freshdesk Omni they cost $5, $10 and $15. Day passes do not include Freddy AI Copilot, so a temporary agent works without AI drafting.
Is Freshdesk the same as Freshservice?
No. Freshdesk is Freshworks’ customer service help desk, for tickets from your customers. Freshservice is its IT service product for internal requests from employees. An IT team handling password resets and access requests should evaluate Freshservice rather than Freshdesk.
What payment methods does Freshdesk accept?
Freshdesk accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, and does not accept PayPal. When the trial ends, you pick a plan and pay by credit card; an account that does not pick a plan is suspended, so decide before day 14.
Final Verdict
Freshdesk is worth buying for an email-first support team that can run on Growth as it is, or justify Pro at $55 per agent for tiered SLAs, round robin and Copilot.
It is a weaker buy for heavy AI deflection without a session budget. It is also weaker for chat-first teams on a budget, where Help Scout Standard ($25 per user per month on the Annual view) or Intercom Essential include chat.
Final recommendation
Start the 14-day trial, configure only what your target plan includes, and run the 500 AI sessions on real email.
Before signing, confirm three things: the Enterprise features your plan will lose, how many AI sessions a month you will buy at $49 per 100, and which support channels your plan includes.
