Freshsales is the cheaper pick for a sales-only team that wants workflow automation and pays for its exact headcount. Its Growth plan lists basic workflows at $9 per user per month, billed annually, while monday CRM starts automations on Standard at $17 per seat per month, billed yearly.
monday CRM is the better buy for teams of 3-5 or 8-40 people that need email sequences. Its Pro plan costs $28 per seat per month, against $39 per user for Freshsales Pro, both billed yearly.
So the monday vs Freshsales decision turns on two questions: do you need sequences, and how does your headcount fit monday’s seat bundles? I checked both US pricing pages in October 2026.

Quick verdict
Pick Freshsales if your team only sells and wants automation cheaply. Growth includes basic workflows at $9 per user per month (billed annually), you pay for each user, and Enterprise publishes its price ($59 per user per month, billed annually) for sandbox and audit logs.
Pick monday CRM if you fill a seat bundle and want more than a pipeline. Pro runs email sequences at $28 per seat per month (billed yearly), Basic already includes 20 quotes & invoices a month, and Pro boards take up to 75 columns.
The trade-off: monday CRM bills whole bundles, so 6 users pay for 10 seats, and it has no free plan. Freshsales charges $19 per user per month for Branded documents and keeps sequences on its $39 Pro plan.

Two dated changes matter here. monday CRM’s pricing page now calls its top tier Ultimate (“a new name for our Enterprise tier”), and Freshworks announces “New pricing plans! Starting at $9” on its Freshsales product page, both checked October 2026.
The table shows list prices. Why the same team can pay very different totals comes from four differences behind them.
Key Differences Between monday CRM and Freshsales
Freshsales is a sales-first CRM priced per user; monday CRM is a CRM built on monday.com’s board platform and priced in seat bundles. Those two facts drive most of what follows.
- Scope: monday CRM is monday.com’s sales CRM, listed apart from monday work management; Freshsales is Freshworks’ sales CRM, not the Freshsales Suite bundle.
- Billing unit: monday CRM sells 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 100 and 200+ seat options; Freshsales prices each user.
- Quotes: monday CRM includes 20, 50 or 250 quotes & invoices a month on Basic, Standard and Pro; Freshsales lists Branded documents as a $19 per user per month add-on.
- AI: monday CRM lists AI agents from Standard up; Freshsales puts contact scoring and deal insights on Pro and sells the Freddy AI Agent at $49 per 100 sessions.
The billing unit hits small teams hardest: two sellers buy three monday seats, while Freshsales bills two users. Above 40 users, monday sends teams to a sales quote.
Quotes are monday CRM’s quiet advantage, since a team billing from the CRM pays nothing extra until it passes its plan’s monthly cap. The monday.com review judges the board platform on its own.
Freshsales answers with a narrower, sales-only scope: calling, chat and email sit on the $9 Growth plan. The full Freshsales review covers it alone.
These differences show up most in what each plan unlocks, feature by feature.
monday CRM vs Freshsales: Features Compared
Freshsales unlocks workflows on its entry plan; monday CRM holds automations back to Standard and sequences to Pro, and caps board columns by plan.
| Feature | monday CRM | Freshsales |
|---|---|---|
| Workflow automation | Standard (250 custom automations a month) | Growth (basic workflows) |
| Email sequences | Pro | Pro |
| Lead or contact scoring | Standard (lead sourcer agent) | Pro (contact scoring) |
| Quotes and documents | Limited: 20 / 50 / 250 a month on Basic / Standard / Pro | Add-on: Branded documents |
| Phone, chat and email | Plan-dependent: Standard (centralized comms hub), Pro (mass emails); Smart call from the mobile app, no plan named on the features page | Growth |
| Forecasting | Not listed on the pricing page | Enterprise (forecasting insights) |
| Sandbox and audit logs | Not listed on the pricing page | Enterprise |
| HIPAA compliance | Ultimate | Not listed on the pricing page |

Pipelines, boards and customization
monday CRM caps boards by plan: 5 columns per board on Basic, 15 on Standard, 75 on Pro and unlimited on Ultimate. Active contacts & deals stop at 1,000 on Basic, 10,000 on Standard and 100,000 on Pro.
Freshsales puts Kanban view, contact lifecycle stages and custom fields on Growth, and custom modules on Enterprise. Custom fields include text, date pickers, checklists and formula fields, and Freshworks publishes no record or field caps.
For a five-rep team, monday’s Basic cap is the first wall: five columns per board leave little room beyond stage, owner, deal value and close date. monday says boards, fields, views, automations and dashboards change “without the need for a developer.”
Freshsales suits a team that wants its own lifecycle stages and custom fields on the $9 Growth plan, with no published field cap. monday CRM suits one that keeps reshaping its pipeline and budgets for the column cap it needs.
Automation and email sequences
Freshsales Growth lists basic workflows at $9 per user per month and Pro adds sales sequences at $39. monday CRM starts automations on Standard at $17 per seat, with 250 custom automations a month, and adds email sequences on Pro at $28 per seat, with 25K automations a month.
The 250 cap is easy to plan around. If each new deal fires two automations, Standard covers 125 new deals a month (250 / 2), before any other rule runs.
Sequences cover more than email on both. Freshworks describes sequences of emails, calls and SMSes; monday describes sequences across email, call and task steps.
Verdict: Automation
Freshsales fits a team that wants simple follow-up rules on the cheapest plan: Growth includes workflows at $9 per user, while monday CRM Basic shows none.
At the sequence tier the two are comparable in scope, and the team-size table below decides. Freshsales publishes no workflow cap, so a high-volume team should confirm limits in the 21-day trial.
AI agents and Freddy AI
monday CRM puts an outreach caller agent, lead sourcer agent, meeting prep agent, a build-your-own agent and an AI meeting notetaker on Standard, Pro and Ultimate. Any monday plan purchased “includes a package of AI credits,” with no credit amounts published.
Freshsales puts Freddy’s contact scoring and deal insights on Pro. Its customer-facing Freddy AI Agent is an add-on at $49 per 100 sessions, after 500 sessions offered once with all paid plans. Agent-facing AI features and bots do not consume bot sessions.
The two use AI for different jobs. monday’s agents do prospecting work: finding and scoring leads, calling them and preparing meeting briefs. Freddy on Pro ranks the contacts and deals a rep already has.
Verdict: AI
Depends on the job. A team short on prospecting capacity gets agents from monday CRM Standard at $17 per seat, billed yearly; a team that wants scoring on its existing pipeline needs Freshsales Pro at $39 per user.
Output quality depends on your own data, so run last month’s leads through both trials before you pay.
Calling, email and multichannel selling
Freshsales Growth lists chat, email and phone. Freshworks’ features page adds one-click calls with call logs and recordings, a WhatsApp Business integration and SMS through your provider.
monday CRM documents “Smart call” from its mobile app, where calls are recorded, transcribed and summarized into the CRM. Standard adds the centralized comms hub, the iOS & Android apps and the outreach caller agent, which calls and qualifies leads. The features page does not tie Smart call to any plan.
For a phone-heavy inside sales team, Freshsales is the safer documented fit on the entry plan. A team that calls mostly from mobile should test monday’s Smart call during the 14-day trial.
Integrations and API
monday CRM’s features page claims “200+ integrations” plus APIs and MCP, while monday.com’s platform page counts 850+ integrations and apps. Freshworks’ CRM features page counts “over 100 apps” in its marketplace, plus API access, webhooks and two-way contact sync with Freshdesk.
The Freshworks Marketplace is shared across Freshworks products and lists Freshservice apps too, so a Marketplace-wide total overstates what Freshsales itself can use.
The counts measure different scopes, so the named connections matter more. monday CRM names Outlook, Gmail, Slack, Zoom, QuickBooks, Google Workspace and DocuSign; Freshsales names Slack, Gmail and Outlook add-ons and the Freshdesk sync.
monday CRM’s only published API limit is 25,000 API calls a day on Ultimate, and Freshsales ties API access to no plan. A team already on Freshdesk for support has the clearest reason to stay inside Freshworks.
Permissions, security and compliance
Freshsales Enterprise lists field-level permissions, sandbox and audit logs at a published $59 per user per month, billed annually. monday CRM puts advanced permissions, security & governance and HIPAA compliance on Ultimate, at a custom price.
monday.com states ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27018, and says customer data is never used to train AI models. Freshworks hosts its servers in a data center with 24-hour surveillance. HIPAA appears on none of the Freshsales pages I read.
Verdict: Governance
Freshsales fits a team that needs sandbox testing and audit logs and wants the price before a sales call: Enterprise publishes $59 per user. monday CRM fits a team with HIPAA obligations, which Ultimate lists, but the price comes only from sales.
Every one of these features sits behind a plan, so the real question is what the plan with your feature costs at your seat count.
monday vs Freshsales Pricing
monday CRM is cheaper per seat on the sequence tier, Freshsales is cheaper on the entry and automation tiers, and monday’s bundles decide the real total.
| Plan tier | monday CRM, yearly | monday CRM, monthly | Freshsales, annually | Freshsales, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | Basic $12 | Basic $18 | Growth $9 | Growth $11 |
| First automations | Standard $17 | Standard $25 | Growth $9 | Growth $11 |
| Email sequences | Pro $28 | Pro $41 | Pro $39 | Pro $47 |
| Top plan | Ultimate: Contact sales | Ultimate: Contact sales | Enterprise $59 | Enterprise $71 |
Sources: monday CRM pricing page, Freshsales pricing page, Freshsales plan comparison, checked Oct 2026.

The billing basis differs too. monday CRM prices exclude tax and depend on the billing country, and a yearly plan is paid upfront in one installment, with a prorated refund only within 30 days.
Freshsales bills per user, annually or monthly, and takes USD check payments from US and Canada customers. Freshworks’ plan comparison page also lists a Free plan at $0 for up to 3 users, which the main pricing page leaves out, so confirm what Free includes before you plan a pipeline around it. monday CRM’s pricing page lists no free plan.
Freshsales’ add-ons change the bill. Growth at $9 plus the $19 Branded documents add-on is $28 per user per month, billed annually, for workflows and documents without sequences.
monday CRM Standard covers that job at $17 per seat per month, billed yearly, with automations and 50 quotes & invoices a month, and monday CRM Pro at the same $28 adds email sequences. The Freshsales plans and add-ons guide covers the rest of that list.

Seat bundles vs per-user billing
monday CRM sells 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 100 and 200+ seat options, so a team of six buys the 10-seat option. Freshsales bills each user, with no minimum shown.
Bundles punish awkward headcounts: six sellers on monday Pro pay for four empty seats, and a solo seller still buys three. A team of 8 to 10 fills its bundle, and monday’s lower seat price then wins.
Monthly billing narrows monday Pro’s per-seat lead over Freshsales Pro, from $39 – $28 = $11 a month billed yearly to $47 – $41 = $6 a month billed monthly.
monday Pro costs $41 x 12 months = $492 per seat a year billed monthly, against $28 x 12 months = $336 billed yearly. Freshsales Pro costs $47 x 12 months = $564 per user a year billed monthly, against $39 x 12 months = $468 billed annually.
What a 2- to 12-person team pays
On the sequence plans, billed yearly, monday CRM Pro is cheaper for 3-5 and 8-40 users, and Freshsales Pro is cheaper for 1-2 and 6-7 users.
| Team size | monday CRM seats billed | monday CRM Pro per year | Freshsales Pro per year | Lower bill |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 users | 3 seats | $28 x 3 x 12 = $1,008 | $39 x 2 x 12 = $936 | Freshsales |
| 4 users | 5 seats | $28 x 5 x 12 = $1,680 | $39 x 4 x 12 = $1,872 | monday CRM |
| 6 users | 10 seats | $28 x 10 x 12 = $3,360 | $39 x 6 x 12 = $2,808 | Freshsales |
| 7 users | 10 seats | $28 x 10 x 12 = $3,360 | $39 x 7 x 12 = $3,276 | Freshsales |
| 8 users | 10 seats | $28 x 10 x 12 = $3,360 | $39 x 8 x 12 = $3,744 | monday CRM |
| 12 users | 15 seats | $28 x 15 x 12 = $5,040 | $39 x 12 x 12 = $5,616 | monday CRM |

The 7-to-8 step is the one to remember. One more hire flips the cheaper option, because monday’s 10-seat bundle is already paid for.
Monthly billing moves that line: billed monthly, Freshsales Pro is cheaper at 4, 8 and 12 users.
- 4 users: $41 x 5 x 12 = $2,460 on monday Pro, against $47 x 4 x 12 = $2,256 on Freshsales Pro
- 8 users: $41 x 10 x 12 = $4,920 on monday Pro, against $47 x 8 x 12 = $4,512 on Freshsales Pro
- 12 users: $41 x 15 x 12 = $7,380 on monday Pro, against $47 x 12 x 12 = $6,768 on Freshsales Pro
On the automation tier, Freshsales wins at every size. Five users pay $17 x 5 x 12 = $1,020 a year on monday Standard, against $9 x 5 x 12 = $540 on Freshsales Growth.
For a multi-year total with your own growth plan, the CRM cost calculator takes these per-seat prices as inputs.
What forces an upgrade
On monday CRM, the first walls are on Basic: no automations listed, 5 columns per board, 1,000 active contacts & deals and 20 quotes & invoices a month. Standard then stops at 250 custom automations a month, and email sequences need Pro.
On Freshsales, sequences, contact scoring and territory management need Pro. Forecasting insights, sandbox, field-level permissions and audit logs need Enterprise.
So a monday team upgrades when its data or rules outgrow a counter, while a Freshsales team upgrades when it wants a new capability, since Freshworks publishes no record or workflow caps.

Which Is Better for Your Needs?
Freshsales fits most sales-only teams on a tight budget; monday CRM fits teams that fill a bundle and run quotes or board-based work from the CRM.
| Your priority | Better fit | Reason | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest plan with workflow automation | Freshsales | Growth lists basic workflows at $9 per user | Workflow caps are not published |
| Email sequences for 3-5 or 8-40 users, billed yearly | monday CRM | Pro at $28 per seat stays below Freshsales Pro after bundle rounding | Empty seats are still billed; billed monthly, Freshsales wins at 4, 8 and 12 users |
| Email sequences for 1-2 or 6-7 users, billed yearly | Freshsales | Per-user billing beats monday’s next bundle | Pro costs $39 per user |

A team of six that needs sequences should pick Freshsales Pro today, then revisit monday CRM at eight users if it bills yearly. A team of four that sends quotes weekly and bills yearly gets more from monday CRM Pro, whose 5-seat bundle costs less than four Freshsales Pro users.
If neither fits, for example because you want a free CRM that scales past three users, the Freshsales alternatives list covers other routes.
If Zoho is the other name on your Freshsales shortlist, Freshsales vs Zoho CRM sets those two against each other.
A choice here is not permanent, so the next question is what moving between them takes.
Switching Between monday CRM and Freshsales
Both directions run through file imports: monday CRM imports Excel or CSV files on all plans, and Freshsales imports CSV or XLSX files of contacts, accounts, deals, products, custom modules and sales goals.
Freshsales to monday CRM. monday imports one file at a time per board, under 50 columns and 8,000 rows and at most 10 MB, so 20,000 contacts need at least three files (20,000 / 8,000 = 2.5).
Watch three traps. Basic holds 1,000 active contacts & deals, so a larger database starts on Standard.
A board takes 5 columns on Basic and 15 on Standard, so an export wider than 15 columns needs Pro’s 75 or a trimmed file. On a Leads board, active automations mark imported items “New Lead” unless you switch them off first.
monday CRM to Freshsales. Freshsales accepts files of 5 MB or less, requires a mapped last name, and assigns owners from a column of users’ sign-in emails, or one chosen owner for unassigned records. Duplicates can be skipped by email or phone number.
In both directions you rebuild pipelines or boards, automations, sequences and dashboards by hand. Neither import page mentions notes or activity history, so confirm your export carries them before you cancel the old tool.

How I Compared monday CRM and Freshsales
I compared the plans each vendor’s US pricing page listed in October 2026, in both billing views, plus each product’s feature, integration and import help pages.
I matched plans by job, not by price: Basic against Growth for entry, Standard against Growth for the first automation, Pro against Pro for sequences, Ultimate against Enterprise at the top. Totals are list price x billed seats x 12 months, with monday seats rounded up to its next seat option.
monday CRM does not publish Ultimate’s price, its AI credit amounts, or a plan gate for Smart call or forecasting.
Freshsales does not publish record, workflow or dashboard caps, a seat minimum, or a HIPAA statement. Where a decision rests on those gaps, take your own data into the trial.
FAQ
Is there a free version of monday CRM?
No. monday CRM’s free option is a 14-day trial with no credit card, after which Basic starts at $12 per seat per month, billed yearly.
Qualified nonprofits may get free or discounted access to monday.com after filling out its nonprofit forms.
Is Freshsales a good CRM?
Yes, for sales-only teams that want workflows and phone on a $9 entry plan and pay per user. It is weaker for teams that need cheap sequences, since those start on Pro at $39 per user, or that send many branded documents at $19 per user extra.
Is monday CRM the same as monday Work Management?
No. monday.com lists monday CRM and monday work management as separate products, and monday CRM’s own pricing page carries the sales items: quotes & invoices, email sequences and the lead sourcer agent.
For project planning rather than selling, Asana vs monday.com compares the work management side.
Who is monday.com’s biggest competitor?
monday.com names no single one. Its CRM page positions monday CRM against Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot and Pipedrive by name. The HubSpot vs monday CRM comparison sets the HubSpot pairing side by side on plans and price.
Who is Freshworks’ biggest competitor?
Freshworks names no single one either. Its Freshsales help center publishes a migration guide for Zoho, Pipedrive, Insightly and Salesforce users. The Pipedrive vs Freshsales comparison weighs the Pipedrive pairing for sales teams.
Final Verdict: monday CRM or Freshsales?
There is no overall winner. Freshsales is the pick for a sales-only team that pays per exact user and wants workflows at $9. monday CRM is the pick for a team of 3-5 or 8-40 users that wants sequences at $28 per seat, billed yearly, and quotes included from Basic.
Choose monday CRM if
- You need email sequences for 3-5 or 8-40 users billed yearly, where Pro at $28 per seat beats Freshsales Pro at $39 after bundle rounding
- Your reps send quotes and invoices, which Basic includes from 20 a month
- Your reps lack prospecting time and want the lead sourcer agent, which starts on Standard at $17 per seat
- You keep reshaping boards and need 75 columns per board on Pro
- You need HIPAA compliance and can wait for an Ultimate quote
Choose Freshsales if
- You want workflows on the entry plan at $9 per user per month, billed annually
- Your team has 1-2 or 6-7 users, where per-user billing beats monday’s next bundle
- Reps call and chat from the CRM on Growth
- You need sandbox and audit logs at a published $59 per user on Enterprise
- You want to start on the Free plan for up to 3 users
Skip monday CRM if: you are one or two sellers, because the 3-seat minimum bills one or two seats nobody uses and no free plan softens it.
Skip Freshsales if: your reps send branded documents daily, because Branded documents cost $19 per user per month extra, while monday CRM Standard includes 50 quotes & invoices a month.
Run your own pipeline through monday’s 14-day or Freshsales’ 21-day trial before you commit to a yearly bill. If both feel narrow, the ranked list of CRM software widens the shortlist.
Should Salesforce be in the running against monday as well, monday vs Salesforce lays out that matchup.
