Grammarly Free costs $0, and Grammarly Pro costs $12 per member per month billed annually, a $144 charge per member each year. Pro also costs $30 per member per month on monthly billing or $60 per member per quarter, in US dollars, while Enterprise is priced through sales.
For most buyers the real question in Grammarly pricing is Free vs Pro. Pro buys full-sentence rewrites, plagiarism and AI-text detection, and 2,000 AI prompts a month instead of 100.
Quick pricing answer
- Grammarly has three plans: Free at $0, Pro, and Enterprise on a sales quote.
- Pro costs $12 per member per month billed annually; on monthly billing it is $30 per member.
- Free includes 100 AI prompts a month, and the plans page offers a Pro trial with an email reminder 2 days before it ends.
- My pick: Free if you only need corrections and tone detection; Pro on annual billing for rewrites, plagiarism checks or a team style guide.
- The caveat: Grammarly’s terms make payments non-refundable and fees exclusive of tax.

These are US list prices in US dollars, Grammarly’s default currency, read on October 27, 2026. Checkout can show regional prices in euros, British pounds or Indian rupees.

The $12 headline is a yearly prepayment, and a per-member price says little until you know what Pro adds over Free.
Grammarly Pricing Plans Explained
Pro’s price buys full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, plagiarism and AI-text detection, and 20 times Free’s AI allowance (2,000 prompts per member a month against 100). Enterprise adds unlimited prompts and the controls an IT team asks for.
| Feature | Free | Pro | Enterprise |

| Spelling and grammar corrections | Included | Included | Included |
| Tone detection | Included | Included | Included |
| Full-sentence rewrites | Higher plan: Pro | Included | Included |

Grammarly Free
Grammarly Free has no charge and covers spelling and grammar corrections, tone detection and 100 AI prompts a month. For someone who wants clean emails and documents, that is the whole job.
The upgrade trigger is specific. The first time you need a sentence rewritten rather than corrected, or a plagiarism or AI-text check before you hand in work, Free has no answer: both sit on Pro.
Grammarly Pro
Pro is the plan most readers end up weighing, because it is sold the same way to one writer and to a team of up to 149. It adds one-click full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, help writing fluently in English, plagiarism and AI-text detection, and 2,000 AI prompts per member a month.
The team side is where the price changes meaning. A Pro account adds style guides, brand tones, knowledge share, snippets and analytics. The compare table caps Pro at 1 style guide and 1 brand tone, so an agency writing for several client brands hits that limit long before the seat cap.
Grammarly’s Pro page also advertises real-time writing support in more than 20 languages, with instant inline translation. The plans page’s compare table names only English fluency, so a writer working in another language should confirm it during the Pro trial.
Grammarly Pro replaced two older plans: Grammarly Premium, which offered 1,000 monthly AI prompts, and the Business team plan. Grammarly Pro is still rolling out, and it is not yet open to Grammarly Business or Grammarly for Education customers, or to Grammarly Premium subscribers who bought through the App Store or Google Play.
Grammarly Enterprise
Grammarly Enterprise is sold through Contact Sales with no published price, and the plan is delivered through Superhuman Go. It fits organizations past Pro’s 149-member ceiling, or an IT team whose requirements go beyond writing features.
On top of Pro, Enterprise lists BYOK encryption, data loss prevention, custom roles and permissions, cost center visibility, confidential mode and dedicated support. It also removes the caps: unlimited members, unlimited AI prompts and unlimited style guides.
A team that only wants a shared style guide gets it on Pro at a published price. Enterprise earns its sales cycle when the security list, not the writing, is the requirement.
Does Grammarly Have a Free Plan or Trial?
Yes to both: Grammarly Free costs $0 with 100 AI prompts a month, and a Pro trial starts with “$0 payment today” and an email reminder 2 days before it ends.

The plans page does not list the trial’s length, so treat the reminder email as your decision date. A cancelled paid plan keeps access to the end of the billing cycle and then becomes a Free subscription, so trying Pro does not cost you the account. For more free writing help, see my best free AI tools.
If what you want is free AI drafting rather than corrections, free AI content generators are built around that job. Once Pro is the plan, the billing cycle changes its yearly cost by more than double.
Monthly vs Annual Grammarly Pricing
Paying monthly costs $30 x 12 = $360 per member a year, quarterly costs $60 x 4 = $240, and annual costs $144. Annual billing saves $360 – $144 = $216 per member a year.
| Billing cycle | Price charged | Cost per year | Saving vs monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $30 per member per month | $30 x 12 = $360 | None |
| Quarterly | $60 per member per three months | $60 x 4 = $240 | $360 – $240 = $120 |
| Annual | $144 per member per year ($12 per member per month) | $144 | $360 – $144 = $216 |

That gap is the 60% saving the Pro page advertises: (30 – 12) / 30 = 60%. The catch is timing: Grammarly bills paid plans in advance, and its terms of service give no refunds or credits for partly used periods.
The cheapest cycle depends on how long you need Pro. Monthly wins for one month, and two months tie with one quarter at $30 x 2 = $60.
From three to six months quarterly is cheapest: $60 against $30 x 3 = $90, and $60 x 2 = $120 against $144 for six. From seven months annual wins, because three quarters cost $60 x 3 = $180.
The cycle sets what each member costs; the next question is what Grammarly adds to the bill on top of that price.
Additional Grammarly Costs to Consider
Grammarly publishes three costs beyond the per-member price: tax, prorated charges for members added mid-term, and extra AI capacity if you exceed your plan’s limits.
| Cost type | When it applies | Pricing basis | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales tax or VAT | Every paid plan | Added to the stated fees | The terms say fees exclude taxes |
| Members added mid-term | Inviting more people to a Pro plan | The plan’s rate, prorated to the days left in the period | Up to 149 members per plan |
| Extra AI capacity | Exceeding the plan’s generative AI limits | Price not published | Tied to the subscription and not refunded |
Sources: Grammarly’s terms of service (section 8.5 and the generative AI limits clause) and its Pro cost help article, checked October 2026.
The prorated seat charge means a growing team’s bill is not fixed at signing: on annual billing, a member added with six months left costs about $144 / 2 = $72. With extra AI capacity unpriced, 2,000 prompts per member is the budget to plan around.
How Much Does Grammarly Cost for Your Team?
On annual billing, Grammarly Pro costs $144 for one writer, $720 for a team of 5 and $3,600 for a team of 25, before tax.
Grammarly cost calculator
This calculator needs JavaScript. The scenario table below gives the same estimate for typical workloads.
Enter what you need. The calculator prices it on every plan at list prices and names the cheapest plan that covers it.
- List prices in USD from Grammarly’s official pricing pages, checked Oct 27, 2026. Tax and regional prices are not included.
- 12-month figures are 12 times the monthly cost at the billing you choose.
- A planning estimate at list prices, not a quote.
The calculator takes your team size, monthly or annual billing and the features you need. It leaves out tax, regional prices, the quarterly cycle and Enterprise, which has no list price.
| Team size | Plan | Billing | Monthly equivalent | Annual total | Assumptions |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 writer, grammar only | Free | Free | $0 | $0 | 100 AI prompts a month included; no rewrites or plagiarism checks |
| 1 writer, rewrites and plagiarism checks | Pro | Annual | $12 | $12 x 1 x 12 = $144 | 2,000 AI prompts a month; tax excluded |
| 5-person team | Pro | Annual | $12 x 5 = $60 | $12 x 5 x 12 = $720 | 5 x 2,000 = 10,000 AI prompts a month; tax excluded |
| 25-person team | Pro | Annual | $12 x 25 = $300 | $12 x 25 x 12 = $3,600 | Under the 149-member cap; tax and mid-term seats excluded |

Billing cycle matters more at team scale. The same 5-person team on monthly billing pays $30 x 5 x 12 = $1,800 a year, which is $1,800 – $720 = $1,080 more than annual. If your team writes in Microsoft apps, see my Microsoft Copilot pricing guide.
The ceiling is the other number to know. Grammarly Pro plans allow up to 149 seats, which on annual billing is $12 x 149 x 12 = $21,456 a year. Past that cap, Enterprise lists unlimited members through Contact Sales.

Which Grammarly Plan Should You Choose?
Free fits writers who only need corrections and tone detection, and Pro on annual billing fits anyone who needs rewrites, plagiarism checks or a shared style guide. Enterprise fits only teams past 149 members or with security requirements.
| Your needs | Plan to consider | Why | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional writing that needs spelling, grammar and tone checks | Free, no upgrade | $0 covers corrections, tone detection and 100 AI prompts a month | No rewrites or plagiarism checks |
| A student or freelancer who needs rewrites and plagiarism checks | Pro, annual | $12 per member per month with 2,000 AI prompts a month | Non-refundable once paid |
| A project of one or two months | Pro, monthly | $30 x 2 = $60, the same as one $60 quarter | Costs $30 x 12 = $360 over a full year |
| A project of three to six months | Pro, quarterly | $60 x 2 = $120 covers six months, under the $144 annual price | Costs $60 x 4 = $240 over a full year |
| A team of 2 to 149 that shares one brand voice | Pro, annual team account | 1 style guide and 1 brand tone per Pro account | Only one style guide |
| 150 or more members, or BYOK encryption and data loss prevention | Enterprise | Unlimited members and prompts, dedicated support | Price only from sales |
| Heavy AI drafting beyond 2,000 prompts per member | Enterprise, or a drafting tool | Enterprise lists unlimited prompts per member | No list price for Enterprise |

Is Grammarly Worth the Price?
Grammarly Pro is worth its annual fee for a writer who would use rewrites and plagiarism and AI-text detection every week, or for a team that needs one enforced style guide.
Skip Grammarly Pro if: Free’s corrections cover your writing, you bought Grammarly Premium through the App Store or Google Play, or you mainly want AI to draft for you.
| Reader | What Pro costs | What decides it | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional writer who wants corrections and tone detection | $0 on Free, $12 x 12 = $144 a year on Pro | Free already includes both | Skip Pro |
| Weekly writer who uses rewrites and plagiarism and AI-text detection | $12 x 12 = $144 a year, annual billing | Free has neither | Worth it |
| Freelancer on a project of three to six months | $60 x 2 = $120 for six months, quarterly billing | Pro features for the length of the job, under the $144 annual price | Worth it, quarterly |
| 5-person team that enforces one style guide | $12 x 5 x 12 = $720 a year | Free has no style guide; Pro allows 1 style guide and 1 brand tone | Worth it, annual |
| Premium subscriber who bought through the App Store or Google Play | Grammarly Pro is not yet open to these subscribers | Grammarly Pro is still rolling out | Skip for now |
| Writer who mainly wants AI to draft | $144 a year for 2,000 prompts a month | In my view, a capped prompt allowance suits editing help more than volume drafting | Skip, compare a drafting tool |
Sources: Grammarly plans page and Grammarly’s help article on what Pro costs, checked October 2026. Totals are my calculations from list prices, tax excluded.
Pro is priced as an editing layer inside apps you already write in, such as Google Docs, Gmail and Outlook. If you want a general assistant instead of an editor, compare my ChatGPT vs Gemini guide.
A buyer who wants long-form drafts should compare what Jasper’s plans cost for drafting before paying for prompts inside an editor.
If you are buying Pro mainly for its 2,000 AI prompts, a general assistant may be the better spend; my ChatGPT vs Claude comparison for business writing weighs those seats.
For editing and drafting tools side by side, my ranking of AI writing tools is the wider view.
Billing, Discounts and Cancellation
Grammarly plans renew automatically at the then-current fees, can be cancelled at any time with access to the end of the billing cycle, and payments are non-refundable. Grammarly’s one listed discount is for educational institutions.
A plan renews for the same duration as your first period, so an annual plan renews as another annual charge unless you cancel. Grammarly may change its fees with advance notice, and a change applies from your next billing cycle.
Grammarly does not offer gift subscriptions, lifetime plans or one-time plans, so a “lifetime Grammarly” offer is not a Grammarly product. A Premium subscriber who switches to Pro gets a refund prorated to the rest of the Premium subscription.
How I Verified Grammarly Pricing
I read Grammarly’s plans page, Pro page, Pro help article and terms of service on October 27, 2026, for the US region, in US dollars. Pro’s monthly and annual prices come from the Pro page’s Monthly and Yearly views; the help article also prints the quarterly price.
The team totals, the cheapest billing cycle by project length and the prorated seat example are my calculations; the plan picks are my judgment. Superhuman suite prices come from Grammarly’s help article on the Superhuman suite.
Grammarly does not publish an Enterprise price, the Pro trial’s length on its plans page or a price for extra AI capacity. The plans page lists no student plan; its FAQ points to discounts for educational institutions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Grammarly still have Premium or Business plans?
No. Grammarly Pro replaced both Premium and the Business team plan. Grammarly moved Premium users to Pro gradually through the rest of 2025, and their billing amount stays the same.
Is there a Grammarly student discount?
Not as a plan on the plans page. It lists Free, Pro and Enterprise with no student plan, and its FAQ covers discounts for educational institutions. The plans page shows one Pro price and no student price.
Is there a Grammarly Plus plan?
No. Grammarly sells three plans, Free, Pro and Enterprise, and none is called Plus.
How can I pay for Grammarly?
Grammarly accepts credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. It does not accept personal checks, money orders or payments by phone, and it excludes Visa Electron, Mastercard Maestro and Interac cards.
Is Grammarly part of Superhuman, and is the suite a better deal?
Yes, Grammarly is now part of Superhuman, and it is still sold on its own. On annual billing the suite is the better deal if you would use Superhuman Go or Coda. Superhuman Pro costs $12 per member per month billed annually, like Grammarly Pro, and includes Grammarly Pro plus Go and Coda.
On monthly billing, Superhuman Pro is $15 per member and Grammarly Pro is an optional $15 a month add-on: $15 + $15 = $30, the same as standalone Pro for one member. Superhuman Business, at $33 per member per month billed annually, adds Superhuman Mail.
Final Pricing Verdict
Start on Grammarly Free, and buy Pro on annual billing once rewrites, plagiarism checks or a team style guide become weekly needs.
Pay monthly only for a one- or two-month project, and quarterly for three to six months; from seven months, annual is cheapest.
Move to Enterprise only past 149 members, or when IT needs BYOK encryption, data loss prevention and custom roles. If AI drafting is the real job, Pro’s prompt allowance is the wrong thing to pay for.
