Ideogram pricing starts with a free plan that gives 30 credits a week. Paid plans start at Plus, which costs $20/month on monthly billing. On yearly billing, Plus is $15 per month, $180 billed annually.

Pro and Team add volume and central billing at higher prices, set out in the table below. Paid plans give a monthly pool of credits, so your image count and rendering level pick the plan. For most solo creators, Plus is the place to start.

Ideogram Pricing Plans Explained

Plus is the step most solo creators need, because it adds private images, quality export and an unlimited slow queue; Pro and Team are volume and administration upgrades on top of it.

Free

Free gives 30 credits a week: 5 Ideogram 4.5 Medium images at 6 credits each, or 10 at Low. That is enough to learn how Ideogram reads your prompts, not to run a content calendar.

Pay as you go

Pay as you go credits cost 1 cent each, the first purchase is $5 to $100, and credits expire 365 days after purchase. There is no slow queue or PNG export, and the route is closed while a subscription is active. It suits a few batches a year.

Plus

Plus costs $20 per month billed monthly; billed annually it is $15 per month ($180 a year). Both buy 2,400 priority credits a month, or 400 Ideogram 4.5 Medium images. Plus adds private generation, quality export, unlimited character consistency, image deletion and top-ups at any time.

The feature that changes the economics is unlimited slow credits. Once the 2,400 credits run out, Plus keeps generating with Ideogram models in a slower queue, so a creator who can wait gets more than 400 images. Edits, reference-image generations and upscales still need credits, so top up while that overflow stays under the Pro break-even line worked out below, and move to Pro once you pass it every month.

Pro

Pro costs $60 per month billed monthly; billed annually it is $42 per month ($504 a year), for 7,500 credits a month, or 1,250 Medium images. Over Plus, it adds the largest generation queue and Batch Generation; the Plus and Team plan cards do not list Batch Generation.

Ideogram calls Pro “the best cost per credit”. On yearly billing Pro works out to $42 / 7,500 = $0.0056 per credit, against $15 / 2,400 = $0.00625 on Plus, but it pays off only past 2,400 + 2,700 = 5,100 credits a month on yearly billing, or 2,400 + 4,000 = 6,400 on monthly.

Team

Team costs $30 per user/month on monthly billing. On yearly billing, Team is $20 per user/month, $240 billed annually. It needs at least 2 users, holds up to 1,000 members and gives each member 3,600 credits a month, or 600 Ideogram 4.5 Medium images (3,600 / 6).

Pricing note

Team credits belong to each member: they are not pooled, cannot move between members, and a removed member’s unused credits are lost.

For a small studio, the real choice is Team against separate Plus accounts. Three yearly Plus accounts cost $15 x 3 x 12 = $540 a year; three yearly Team seats cost $20 x 3 x 12 = $720. On yearly billing each seat costs $5 a month more ($20 – $15) and holds 3,600 – 2,400 = 1,200 more credits. One credit costs one US cent, so the same top-ups would cost 1,200 x $0.01 = $12. Pick Team when members use those credits or the owner wants one bill.

Enterprise

Enterprise Postpaid is Contact sales: a custom credit amount, custom models trained privately on your own images, API volume discounts billed separately and priority support, for up to 10,000 members.

Enterprise Prepaid is self-serve: the organization buys one shared balance at 1 cent per credit, with no monthly seat allowance. Pick it over Team when usage is uneven, because a heavy user can spend credits a light user would leave unused on a Team seat.

The legacy Basic plan

Ideogram no longer sells Basic ($8/month on monthly billing). Billed yearly, Basic was $7/month. Existing holders keep it and get 960 credits each month, so a new subscriber starts at Plus.

How Ideogram Credits Work

An Ideogram image costs from 0.8 credits (Ideogram 4.5 Very Low with source images) to 22 credits (Ideogram 4.5 High with source images), depending on the model and rendering. Plan credits are spent first, reset on each renewal date and do not roll over; purchased credits are spent next and last 365 days.

Credit cost by model and rendering

In the pricing page’s credit table, the 4.5 group lists Low at 3 credits, Medium at 6 and High at 10 per image, and the 4.0 (2K) group lists the same 3, 6 and 10 for Turbo, Balanced and Quality.

Rendering is the first lever before an upgrade: Plus’s 2,400 credits cover 800 images at Low (3 credits each) but 240 at High (10 each). Video costs sit under Settings, Usage costs rather than on the subscription tab, so a reader whose main job is video should compare per-second rates, such as those in my Seedance pricing guide.

What the slow queue covers and what still needs credits

On Plus, Pro and Team, Ideogram models keep generating in a slower queue with no limit after your credits run out, and wait times vary with server capacity. You cannot choose the slow queue while credits remain, and Free and pay as you go have no slow queue at all. These still spend credits on every plan:

  • custom models and partner models;
  • generations that use a reference image;
  • image edits;
  • upscales (6 credits per image on Upscale 1.0).

A creator who mostly generates from text can treat Plus as close to unlimited; an editor pays credits for each pass. If editing is most of your work, compare Ideogram with the tools in my list of AI photo editors before you subscribe.

API usage draws from the same credits

In a personal workspace, the Ideogram API spends the same balance as the app, monthly plan credits first and purchased credits next; a key created in a Team workspace spends its creator’s credits.

Ideogram API pricing, on the API tab of Ideogram’s pricing page, bills image generation per generated image in US dollars. Ideogram 4.5 Generate costs US $0.03 at Low, US $0.06 at Medium and US $0.10 at High, and Ideogram 4.0 costs US $0.03 (Turbo), US $0.06 (Default) and US $0.10 (Quality). Custom model training costs US $40.00 per training run, and the default rate limit is 10 in-flight requests.

Those rates match the app’s credit costs at the one-cent credit price. Ideogram 4.5 Medium uses 6 credits, and 6 x $0.01 = $0.06. High uses 10 credits, and 10 x $0.01 = $0.10. For a developer, 1,250 Medium images at list rates cost 1,250 x $0.06 = $75, while Pro’s 7,500 monthly credits cover the same 1,250 images for $42 a month billed yearly.

Does Ideogram Have a Free Plan or Trial?

Yes, Ideogram has a free plan with 30 credits a week for accounts that sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, but no free trial of the paid plans. Email-and-password accounts get no free credits, and the weekly amount may vary.

Three limits make Free a testing tool:

  • everything you generate on Free is public;
  • downloads are JPEG, with PNG only at 1K for transparent images;
  • when the 30 credits are gone, you wait for next week or buy credits.

If 30 credits a week is too few, my ranking of free AI image generators compares other free tiers.

Monthly vs Annual Ideogram Pricing

Yearly billing lowers the monthly price of Plus, Pro and Team, but the whole year is charged at once and Ideogram does not refund it.

PlanMonthly billingYearly billingCharged at onceSaving per year
Plus$20 per month$15 per month$180($20 – $15) x 12 = $60
Pro$60 per month$42 per month$504($60 – $42) x 12 = $216
Team$30 per user per month$20 per user per month$240 per user($30 – $20) x 12 = $120 per user

Sources: Ideogram pricing page, checked November 2026.

Ideogram advertises yearly billing as “Up to 33% off”. Team gets the full third, Plus saves a quarter ($5 of $20 a month) and Pro 30% ($60 – $42 = $18 a month).

Pricing note

Switching from yearly to monthly billing is not self-serve: Ideogram asks you to contact support. With no refunds, a yearly plan is a 12-month commitment, so start monthly until you know your volume.

Additional Ideogram Costs to Consider

Beyond the plan fee, an Ideogram bill can include top-up credits at 1 cent each, credits for work the slow queue does not cover, and sales tax added at checkout.

How Much Does Ideogram Cost at Your Usage Level?

If you make 300 Ideogram 4.5 Medium images a month on yearly billing, Plus covers them for $15 x 12 = $180 a year. If you make 1,000 a month and need Batch Generation, Pro costs $42 x 12 = $504 a year. A 3-person team that needs one bill and shared collections pays $20 x 3 x 12 = $720 a year on Team.

Every row assumes Ideogram 4.5 Medium at 6 credits per image and leaves out tax, top-ups, edits and upscales. A user who makes 1,000 Medium images a month uses 1,000 x 6 = 6,000 credits. Past the 3,600 on the seat, that overflow needs a top-up from the owner or a wait in the slow queue, not a bigger plan.

When Plus plus top-ups beats Pro

Topping up Plus stays cheaper than Pro until the top-ups cost as much as the gap between the two plans:

  • Monthly billing: at the one-cent credit price, the $60 – $20 = $40 gap equals 4,000 x $0.01, so Plus covers 2,400 + 4,000 = 6,400 credits for the price of Pro.
  • Yearly billing: the $42 – $15 = $27 gap equals 2,700 x $0.01, so the line is 2,400 + 2,700 = 5,100 credits.

Top-ups last 365 days, so a creator with one busy month a quarter should stay on Plus and top up. Someone past that line every month should move to Pro.

When pay as you go beats a plan

At the one-cent credit price, monthly Plus’s $20 equals 2,000 x $0.01, so pay as you go costs less below 2,000 credits a month. Against yearly Plus, $15 equals 1,500 x $0.01, so the line is 1,500 / 6 = 250 Medium images a month. The catch is what Plus adds: pay as you go has no slow queue and no PNG export, so I would buy credits only for occasional, public, JPEG-friendly work.

Which Ideogram Plan Should You Choose?

Choose Free for a few public images a week, pay as you go for light irregular use, Plus for most solo creators, Pro for heavy monthly volume or batch work, and Team when two or more people need one bill.

Is Ideogram Worth the Price?

Plus is worth it for a creator who fills most of its 2,400 credits or leans on the slow queue. On yearly billing, a Plus Medium image costs $15 / 400 = $0.0375. On pay as you go, the same image costs 6 x $0.01 = $0.06 at the one-cent credit price.

Skip it if:
one of these describes you.
  • You need a refund guarantee: Ideogram refunds no subscription, renewal or credit purchase.
  • Your team wants one pooled balance on a seat plan: Team credits stay with each member, and Enterprise Prepaid is the shared-wallet route.
  • Most of your work is editing or reference-based, which spends credits even in the slow queue.
  • You can only pay by PayPal.

Judge image quality with the free weekly credits on your own prompts before paying for a year. If Ideogram’s credit model does not fit, my guide to AI image generators worth paying for compares paid options by job and budget.

Billing, Refunds and Cancellation

Ideogram gives no refunds of any kind; cancel at least 5 days before your renewal date to stop the next charge, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for.

  • The no-refund rule covers subscription payments, renewals, credit purchases and partly used billing periods.
  • Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge; downgrades start at the next renewal, with no refund for the difference.
  • Yearly to monthly billing and Team to an individual plan both need an email to support.
  • After cancelling, the account moves to Free, or to pay as you go if purchased credits remain.
  • An iOS App Store subscription is cancelled in the App Store, not on the website.

How I Verified Ideogram Pricing

Every plan price and credit cost here comes from ideogram.ai/pricing in its Monthly and Yearly views, read on November 1, 2026, in US dollars before tax. API rates come from the API tab of Ideogram’s pricing page, and billing rules from Ideogram’s help pages, read the same day.

Totals, cost per credit and break-even points are my calculations (price x seats x 12 months, Ideogram 4.5 Medium at 6 credits per image), and the plan picks are my analysis.

Ideogram does not publish an Enterprise Postpaid price or slow-queue wait times, so try the slow queue on monthly Plus before you commit to a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Ideogram offer student or education discounts?

No. Ideogram offers no discounts or free trials for subscription plans, so a student pays the same Plus price as anyone else.

Can I pay for Ideogram with PayPal?

No. Ideogram processes all payments through Stripe, which accepts credit or debit cards on networks such as Mastercard, Visa and American Express. PayPal and other digital wallets are not available, so a buyer without a card cannot subscribe or buy credits on the web.

Can I use free-plan images commercially?

Ideogram’s pricing page says it claims no ownership of generated images and allows any use, including commercial use, under its Terms of Service. Its help FAQ says commercial use depends on those terms, so read them first; remember that free-plan images are also public.

Can I buy Ideogram credits in the iOS app?

No. Purchases are not available inside the iOS app. If your personal plan is billed through the App Store, you also cannot buy personal-wallet credits on the web, although an authorized manager can still fund a separately billed organization wallet there.

Final Pricing Verdict

Start on Free to test prompts. For public, JPEG-friendly work under about 1,500 / 6 = 250 Medium images a month, buy pay as you go credits at one cent each.

Buy Plus once you pass that line or need private images, PNG export or the slow queue, and take the $180 yearly bill only after a monthly Plus month shows steady use. Move to Pro when top-ups on Plus would cost more than Pro or you need Batch Generation, and choose Team only when one bill and shared collections matter more than pooled credits.
