Zoho Books costs $0 on the Free plan. Its five paid plans run from Standard at $15 per organization per month to Ultimate at $240 billed annually, or from Standard at $20 to Ultimate at $275 billed monthly, each with a fixed number of users. Because Zoho Books pricing is per organization, three people on Standard pay the same as one. For most small US businesses, the real decision is whether you enter vendor bills.

Quick pricing answer

Zoho Books has six US plans priced per organization per month: Free at $0, then Standard $15, Professional $40, Premium $60, Elite $120 and Ultimate $240 billed annually, or $20, $50, $70, $150 and $275 billed monthly.

Free stays free while yearly revenue is at or under $50K; paid plans have a 14-day free trial.

Pick Standard for one to three people who need bank feeds and sales tax; move to Professional once you enter vendor bills.

Caveat: paid plans include 3, 5, 10, 10 and 15 users, and extra users cost $3 per user per month, or $2.50 billed annually. Checked November 2026, USD, before tax.

These are US-edition prices in US dollars, exclusive of local taxes; the annual column is a monthly price paid a year up front, so Standard is $15 x 12 = $180 a year.

Above Premium the user count barely moves (10, 10, 15), so the higher tiers sell features, not seats.

Zoho Books Pricing Plans Explained

Feature gates, not headcount, move a Zoho Books customer up the ladder: vendor bills and purchase orders arrive on Professional, budgets and forecasting on Premium, warehouses and sales channels on Elite, and advanced analytics on Ultimate. If you are unsure which bookkeeping jobs you need covered, my explainer on what accounting software does sets out the basics.

Free

For $0, Free gives 1 user plus 1 accountant, 1,000 invoices and 1,000 expenses a year and 50 receipt autoscans a month, while revenue for the financial year stays at or under $50K. It still covers recurring invoices, bank reconciliation, 1099 preparation and filing, and 50+ reports.

That makes Free a working ledger for a solo owner, not a demo. What ends it early for a seller is sales tax: sales and use tax tracking starts on Standard, as do bank feeds. Support is email only.

If you only send invoices and collect payment, set this plan against Zoho Invoice pricing first.

Standard

Standard costs $15 per organization per month billed annually ($180 a year), or $20 billed monthly, for 3 users and up to 5,000 invoices a year. It adds sales and use tax tracking, 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC e-filing, bank feeds, progress invoicing, custom reports, API access at 2,000 requests a day and 200 receipt and document autoscans a month, plus voice and chat support.

The limit to watch is bills: Zoho supports them only on Professional and higher. Standard records spending as expenses (up to 5,000 a year), not supplier bills with due dates, so a business that tracks what it owes suppliers should start one tier up.

Professional

Professional costs $40 per organization per month billed annually ($480 a year), or $50 billed monthly, for 5 users and up to 10,000 invoices a year. It keeps Standard’s 200 autoscans a month and is the first plan with bills (10,000 expenses and bills combined a year), sales and purchase orders, multi-currency transactions, timesheet billing, project profitability, inventory tracking and custom user roles.

I would start a product seller or a client-services firm here, since purchase orders, project billing and foreign-currency invoices all sit on this plan. Scheduled reports also rise from 50 to 200. Upgrade only for budgets, forecasting or a vendor portal.

Premium

Premium costs $60 per organization per month billed annually ($720 a year), or $70 billed monthly. It adds budgets, cash flow forecasting, fixed asset management, a vendor portal and custom modules, doubles users to 10, raises the yearly caps to 25,000 invoices and 25,000 expenses and bills, and lifts autoscans to 1,000 a month.

For headcount alone, Premium rarely pays: Professional plus 5 extra users costs $40 + $2.50 x 5 = $52.50 a month billed annually, under Premium’s $60 for the same 10 people. Buy Premium for the planning tools or the higher caps.

Elite

Elite costs $120 per organization per month billed annually ($1,440 a year), or $150 billed monthly: twice Premium’s annual price for the same 10 users. The difference buys advanced inventory: warehouses, serial number and batch tracking, shipping labels, Etsy, eBay and Amazon connections, up to 2 Shopify stores, and 100,000 invoices a year.

Professional already tracks inventory, so Elite is for stock spread across warehouses or sold on marketplaces. If stock control matters more than the ledger, compare Elite with Zoho Inventory pricing, Zoho’s separate inventory app.

Ultimate

Ultimate costs $240 per organization per month billed annually ($2,880 a year), or $275 billed monthly, for 15 users. It adds advanced analytics: 50+ pre-built visualizations, KPI tracking, embedded reports and 3 million records; blending in other data sources needs the Zoho Analytics integration add-on, bought separately.

Five extra Elite users would cost only $2.50 x 5 = $12.50 a month billed annually, so nearly all of the $120 step up from Elite pays for analytics. Ultimate fits a finance lead who would otherwise buy a separate BI tool.

Does Zoho Books Have a Free Plan or Free Trial?

Yes, both: a Free plan Zoho keeps available indefinitely while revenue for the financial year stays at or under $50K, and a 14-day free trial of the five paid plans.

The trial starts each new organization on Premium. Switch it to the plan you mean to buy (the organization’s logo, then Change Trial Plan), or you will trial budgets and a vendor portal that Standard and Professional lack.

Free is the right start if you work alone, earn under the cap and collect no sales tax. Past the cap, Standard at $180 a year billed annually is the cheapest paid route.

Monthly vs Annual Zoho Books Pricing

Annual billing saves ($20 – $15) / $20 = 25% on Standard and less on the higher plans, down to ($275 – $240) / $275 = 13% on Ultimate.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingAnnual totalSaving
Standard$20$15$15 x 12 = $180($20 – $15) / $20 = 25%
Professional$50$40$40 x 12 = $480($50 – $40) / $50 = 20%
Premium$70$60$60 x 12 = $720($70 – $60) / $70 = 14%
Elite$150$120$120 x 12 = $1,440($150 – $120) / $150 = 20%
Ultimate$275$240$240 x 12 = $2,880($275 – $240) / $275 = 13%

In dollars, the gap grows with the plan: a year of Standard costs $20 x 12 = $240 paid monthly against $180 billed annually, while Elite costs $150 x 12 = $1,800 against $1,440.

The annual plan is an upfront commitment, but its refund window runs 45 days against one month for monthly plans. The real risk is picking the wrong tier, because a mid-year downgrade earns only credit (see the billing section).

Additional Zoho Books Costs to Consider

Extra users cost $3 per user per month, or $2.50 per user per month billed annually; the other add-ons and Premium Support matter only if you need what they cover.

On Standard billed annually, Premium Support’s 20% comes to $180 x 20% = $36, so the $490 a year floor applies, almost three times the plan. On Ultimate billed annually, 20% of the $2,880 fee clears the floor, so the percentage applies. In return, the maximum response time drops from 8 hours to 3.

BillPay billed annually is $59 x 12 = $708 a year, more than Professional’s $480: buy it only if ACH supplier payments save real staff time.

These figures cover Zoho Books alone; Zoho CRM is among the Zoho apps Books connects to, and what Zoho CRM costs is a separate budget line.

How Much Does Zoho Books Cost for Your Team?

A year of Zoho Books costs from $0 for a solo owner on Free to $1,440 for a 10-user Elite seller billed annually, before tax and add-ons.

The calculator takes your user count, billing basis and must-have features (bills, multi-currency, budgets, warehouses, analytics), then shows the plans that include them, with the monthly and yearly cost. It adds extra users at the add-on price and leaves out sales tax, other add-ons and Premium Support.

The user add-on changes how to read the ladder. On annual billing, Standard plus 10 extra users costs $15 + $2.50 x 10 = $40, Professional’s price, yet covers 13 people against Professional’s 5. Professional plus 8 extra users costs $40 + $2.50 x 8 = $60, Premium’s price, for 13 people against 10. Headcount alone almost never justifies an upgrade: buy users, and move up a tier only for a feature.

Which Zoho Books Plan Should You Choose?

Choose the lowest plan that holds your must-have workflow, then add users to it instead of upgrading for headcount.

If you are torn between Standard and Professional, the bills question settles it: no supplier bills, Standard; any supplier bills, Professional.

Before you buy, read my Zoho Books review to see the product itself, not only its price.

Is Zoho Books Worth the Price?

Zoho Books is worth its price for a US business of three to five people that wants sales tax and 1099 e-filing on Standard at $15 a month, or bills on Professional at $40, both billed annually.

Skip it if:
all you need is to send invoices and you keep no books; an invoicing-only tool fits that job better than a full ledger. Skip it too if you need warehouse inventory on a tight budget: that starts at Elite’s $120 a month billed annually, so price Zoho’s separate inventory app first (linked in the Elite section).

Its pricing has three weak spots, which answer the usual question about its disadvantages: every plan caps users, so a growing team pays add-ons monthly; bills sit behind Professional; and Elite charges twice Premium’s annual price for the same 10 users.

Switching need not add a fee: Zoho advertises free data migration from QuickBooks or Xero. Price the rivals at your own team size first:

If none of them fits, my ranking of the best accounting software for small businesses widens the choice.

Billing, Refunds and Cancellation

Zoho’s pricing FAQ says Books needs no contract: you pay monthly or yearly, and under Zoho’s refund policy a monthly plan is refundable in full in the first month and an annual plan in the first 45 days. Both renew automatically until you cancel.

A refund moves the account to the Free plan. Forgot to cancel? Zoho still takes full refund requests for five business days after a monthly renewal, or 15 days after an annual one.

Read the partial-downgrade clause before paying yearly. Cutting users, the plan, the support plan or an add-on mid-term earns credit as a subscription extension: the total paid minus the monthly list price times the months used. A $480 Professional annual plan cut back after 6 months leaves $480 – ($50 x 6) = $180 of credit, not half of $480.

How I Verified Zoho Books Pricing

I read Zoho’s US pricing page in its Monthly and Yearly views, the plan comparison, the Zoho Books help page on plans, the support pricing page and Zoho’s refund policy on November 4, 2026.

Pricing region: the United States (the US edition), in US dollars, per organization, exclusive of local taxes. I calculated each total as the plan price multiplied by the months billed, plus the user add-on for extra people. Prices and limits are Zoho’s; totals, savings and break-even points are my arithmetic, and the plan picks are my judgment.

Zoho sends companies that need more than 100,000 invoices a year to its sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Zoho Books prices include sales tax?

No. Zoho’s pricing page states that prices are exclusive of local taxes, and the support pricing page says the same of Premium Support. Budget state and local tax on top of every figure here.

Can I run more than one business on one Zoho Books account?

Yes. Zoho Books sets up each business as a separate organization under one account. Because every plan is priced per organization, I would budget each business as its own subscription, with its own plan and user count.

Can Free plan users call Zoho Books support?

No. Call support is only for paid subscriptions, and Free users get email support. Paid plans add voice and chat, and Premium Support extends email, chat and phone coverage to 24 hours a day on weekdays.

What happens when the 14-day trial ends?

You subscribe to a paid plan on monthly or yearly billing, or switch the organization to the Free plan, which keeps limited features.

Final Pricing Verdict

Buy Standard billed annually if one to three people invoice, reconcile and track sales tax without vendor bills. Move to Professional the moment bills, purchase orders or multi-currency appear, and pay for Elite only when you sell stock across warehouses or marketplaces.

Stay on Free if you work alone under the revenue cap and collect no sales tax. Buy Premium for budgets and forecasting and Ultimate for built-in analytics, never for seats. Run the trial on the plan you mean to buy, then pay yearly; the 45-day refund window covers a wrong first guess.
