ElevenLabs Pricing: Plans, Credits, API Rates and What a Month Really Costs

ElevenLabs has six self-serve plans, from Free at $0 to Business at $990 a month on monthly billing, and Enterprise is priced by sales. Starter costs $6 a month billed monthly, or $5 a month billed annually. These are the US-dollar prices of elevenlabs.io/pricing, read on November 1, 2026.

Every plan is a monthly pool of credits that all ElevenLabs products share, so the number that picks your plan is the minutes of speech you make each month. Developers should look at the API instead: each paid plan buys at least twice as many characters of speech through the API as it buys credits in the app.

Quick pricing answer

  • ElevenLabs plans: Free, Starter, Creator, Pro, Scale and Business, plus Enterprise with custom pricing.
  • Starting price: Starter at $6 a month billed monthly, or $5 a month billed annually ($60 a year), is the cheapest ElevenLabs plan with a commercial license.
  • Free plan: 10,000 credits a month (about 10 minutes of speech), no commercial license, attribution required.
  • For creators: a Professional Voice Clone is the reason to choose Creator, at $22 a month billed monthly or $18.33 a month billed annually, with 121,000 credits. Without that clone, Starter plus top-ups costs less up to about 110 minutes a month (math below).
  • Caveat: one credit pool covers every ElevenLabs product, while the API bills in USD per 1,000 characters by model.
  • Checked November 2026: US prices in USD. Prices exclude all taxes, levies and duties.

ElevenLabs Pricing at a Glance

ElevenLabs prices seven plans per account, from $0 to $990 a month on monthly billing, and each step up buys a larger monthly pool of credits.

Prices were read on November 1, 2026, in USD for US buyers, per account, monthly prices from the page’s Monthly billing view and annual ones from its Yearly billing view. Annual billing charges 10 months for 12, prices exclude taxes, and first-month offers are left out of the table.

The jumps are steep: Creator holds four times Starter’s credits, and Pro five times Creator’s, so your monthly minutes alone place you between two neighbouring plans, such as Starter and Creator below about 121 minutes.

How ElevenLabs Credits Work

One credit is one character of text to speech in the app, so Free’s 10,000 credits come to about 10 minutes of speech, and every product draws from the same monthly pool. Using one product leaves fewer credits for the others.

The shared pool is where budgets slip. An hour of transcription uses 60 x 330 = 19,800 credits, which leaves a Starter account 10,200 of its 30,000 credits, about 10 minutes of speech, for the rest of the month. Dubbing is the heaviest item: one minute of Dubbing Studio without a watermark costs as many credits as Free’s whole month.

Unused credits on a paid plan roll over for up to two months, so a balance can reach at most three times the monthly quota. Rollover does not apply to Free, and downgrading or cancelling forfeits unused credits at the end of the cycle. ElevenLabs used to call credits “characters”, and the value did not change with the new name.

Once your month is in credits, the question is which allowance fits and what else each tier adds.

ElevenLabs Pricing Plans Explained

Each step up multiplies the credits and opens one gate: the commercial license and Instant Voice Cloning at Starter, Professional Voice Cloning at Creator, 44.1kHz PCM audio output via the API at Pro, and workspace seats at Scale.

Free

At $0, Free gives 10,000 credits a month (about 10 minutes of speech), 3 custom voice slots for Voice Design, 3 projects in Studio and 2 concurrent requests. Credits do not roll over, and voice cloning starts at Starter.

Free is for hearing voices and testing a script before you pay. The moment any audio earns money, Free is out, for the license reasons covered below.

Starter

Starter costs $6 a month on monthly billing, or $5 a month billed annually ($60 a year), and buys 30,000 credits, the commercial license and Instant Voice Cloning. A $1 first month (83% off $6) was on offer on November 1, 2026.

For a channel that publishes about 30 minutes of narration a month, this is the plan I would start on, because the license is what Free cannot give. Starter also raises Studio to 20 projects, custom voice slots to 10 and concurrent requests to 3.

Starter stops fitting when you want a professional clone of your own voice, or when your monthly minutes climb past the point where top-ups cost more than Creator.

Creator

For $22 a month ($18.33 billed annually, $220 a year), Creator buys 121,000 credits, about four times Starter’s 30,000, plus one Professional Voice Clone. Its first month was on offer at $11 (50% off $22) on November 1, 2026.

The extra credits alone barely change the per-minute price: a minute of the allowance works out to $22 / 121 = $0.18 on Creator against $6 / 30 = $0.20 on Starter. The Professional Voice Clone is the real reason to pay Creator’s $22, along with 30 custom voice slots and 5 concurrent requests. The “Additional Credits” line on its card is no Creator perk: top-ups are open to every self-serve tier.

Pro

Pro’s $99 a month ($82.50 billed annually, $990 a year) buys 600,000 credits, about 600 minutes or 10 hours of app speech, plus 44.1kHz PCM audio output via the API and 10 concurrent requests.

Pro fits long-form narration that fills most of its 600 minutes, or an app that needs PCM audio output via the API. It still includes one Professional Voice Clone and 160 custom voice slots, and its card lists no workspace seats. A minute of its allowance works out to $99 / 600 = $0.165, close to Creator’s $0.18, so Pro is a volume and output plan, not a cheaper-minute plan.

Scale

Scale is the first plan with workspace seats: $299 a month ($249.17 billed annually, $2,990 a year) buys 3 seats, Team Collaboration, 3 Professional Voice Clones and 1.8M credits a month. The credits come with the plan, not with each seat: $299 buys 1,800,000 credits and 3 seats in total.

The price is almost exactly three Pro plans: $99 x 3 = $297 buys the same 1.8M credits, so Scale’s extra $2 pays for one shared workspace rather than more speech. No add-on seat is listed, so a fourth person means Business.

ElevenLabs plans page showing Scale at $299, Business at $990 per month and Enterprise with custom pricing, with the features each plan adds
ElevenLabs pricing page, screen 2, elevenlabs.io, captured Nov 2026

Business

Ten workspace seats, 10 Professional Voice Clones and 6M credits cost $990 a month on Business ($825 billed annually, $9,900 a year), along with low-latency TTS priced “as low as 5c/minute”. Business also raises custom voice slots to 2,200 and allows more concurrent requests than Pro’s 10.

The math repeats the Scale pattern: ten Pro plans cost $99 x 10 = $990 for the same 6,000,000 credits. Above Pro, ElevenLabs sells seats and shared workspaces, not cheaper speech: a minute of allowance works out to $299 / 1,800 = $0.166 on Scale and $990 / 6,000 = $0.165 on Business.

Enterprise

Enterprise has no published price; it adds custom credits and seats, custom terms on DPA/SLAs, BAAs for HIPAA customers, custom SSO, elevated concurrency limits and priority support. Enterprise contracts stay on overage-based billing instead of prepaid top-ups.

The plan also promises “significant discounts at scale”, the only hint of a lower rate than Business, without a figure. Only the Enterprise card lists custom SSO, BAAs for HIPAA customers and custom terms, so a buyer who needs one of them should plan on a sales call whatever the volume. Most readers start lower, at Free, which raises the question of what Free may legally be used for.

Does ElevenLabs Have a Free Plan?

Yes: ElevenLabs has a free plan with 10,000 credits a month, but it includes no commercial license, and anything you publish from it must credit ElevenLabs with “elevenlabs.io” or “11.ai” in the title. Eleven Music made on Free is credited as “Eleven Music” instead.

All paid plans include a commercial license as long as you are not using Beta Services, and content made during a paid subscription can be used commercially indefinitely (ElevenLabs license help article). The rule runs the other way too: content made before or after a paid subscription cannot be used commercially. A creator who voices a video on Free cannot use that audio commercially, even after upgrading.

Paying with top-ups does not change this. Pay As You Go on Free leaves the account on the Free tier with its limits, so top-ups buy usage, not a license. ElevenLabs lists no trial of its paid plans, and the 14-day refund is no stand-in for one, because it requires that no credit quota was used.

If the license rule rules Free out and your budget is zero, my roundup of free AI tools worth trying is the next place to look. Developers often skip the app altogether, and the API prices speech differently.

ElevenLabs API Pricing: Per-Character Rates and Pay As You Go

The API bills US dollars, not credits: $0.08 per 1,000 characters for v4, v3 and v2 Multilingual, and $0.04 for v4 Turbo, v3 Conversational and Flash/Turbo, at the same rate on every plan. Eleven v4 and v4 Turbo carry a “New” label on the rate card.

ModelPrice per 1K charactersLatency or limitLanguages
v4$0.0810,000-character limit90+
v4 Turbo$0.04~100ms90+
v3$0.085,000-character limit70+

The half-price models are the low-latency ones, so an app that reads short replies aloud pays the lower rate, while long-form narration on v4 or v2 Multilingual pays double. Each plan’s fee comes with an included amount of API usage:

The same $22 shows up as about 121 minutes of speech in the app and 275,000 v4 characters, about 275 minutes, through the API. The included API usage is simply the plan fee at the list rate (275 x $0.08 = $22), so a subscription does not make API characters cheaper. For an API user, the plan buys the commercial license, concurrency, voice slots and PCM output; the characters cost the same either way.

Transcription shows the gap most clearly. In the app, Creator’s 121,000 credits at 330 credits a minute cover about 366 minutes, roughly six hours, while Creator includes 100 hours of Scribe v2 transcription through the API.

Take an illustrative app that speaks 2,000,000 Flash characters a month (an assumed volume, not a typical one). At $0.04 per 1,000, that usage is worth 2,000 x $0.04 = $80. Starter covers the first 150,000 characters and Pay As You Go covers the other 1,850,000 at 1,850 x $0.04 = $74, so the month costs $6 + $74 = $80. At 2,000,000 assumed Flash characters, Pay As You Go costs 2,000 x $0.04 = $80, so Pro’s $99 a month is $99 – $80 = $19 more and includes 2,475,000 Flash characters and PCM output.

Pricing note

Pay As You Go works on the Free plan, but the account keeps Free’s limits and Free’s terms, and content made outside a paid subscription cannot be used commercially. A commercial app needs at least Starter, even when most of its usage is top-ups.

Outside speech, Scribe v2 costs $0.22 per hour of audio ($0.39 for Scribe v2 Realtime), Music $0.15 a minute, and Voice Changer, Voice Isolator and Sound Effects $0.12 a minute. Dubbing v1 costs $0.33 a minute with a watermark and $0.50 without; Dubbing v2 costs $2.20 a minute. If you are still choosing an engine for an app, my shortlist of text-to-speech tools for developers and creators sets ElevenLabs against other options. Whichever route you take, the included amount runs out at some point.

What Happens When You Run Out of Credits?

New self-serve subscribers top up a prepaid Pay As You Go balance (minimum top-up $5) that is spent only after the plan’s credits run out; when that balance hits $0, usage pauses and no overage bill arrives. Pay As You Go has replaced usage-based overage billing for new self-serve customers.

Each plan has its own credit-to-dollar rate for that balance, and a larger plan converts a dollar at a higher rate. Dividing each plan’s monthly price by its included minutes shows the rate a minute of speech is billed at:

PlanApp TTS minutes includedMonthly price per included minuteMonthly top-up cap without 2FA

Topping up is often cheaper than upgrading. A Starter user who makes 60 minutes in a month pays for 30 extra minutes at 30 x $0.20 = $6, so $6 + $6 = $12, well under Creator’s $22. The two meet at about 110 minutes a month: 80 extra minutes cost 80 x $0.20 = $16, and $6 + $16 = $22, Creator’s monthly price. Below that, upgrade only for the Professional Voice Clone.

Top-ups have their own rules. They expire 12 months after purchase, they are non-refundable, and without two-factor authentication the monthly purchase cap in the table applies; turning on 2FA removes it. The balance is stored in dollars and converted at the current plan’s rate, so a downgrade can shrink the credit count without any usage. Legacy Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans keep the older usage-based billing instead.

Paying a year ahead is the other way to lower these list prices.

Monthly vs Annual ElevenLabs Pricing

Annual billing charges 10 months’ price for 12 months: Creator costs $22 x 10 = $220 a year against $22 x 12 = $264 on monthly billing, a $44 saving.

The saving is two months on every plan, but the commitment is a full year paid up front. Annual plans renew automatically unless cancelled. You can move from one annual plan to a larger annual plan, with a prorated discount for the unused months, but you cannot upgrade from an annual plan to a monthly one.

Creator’s $11 first month, on offer on November 1, 2026, makes a first year on monthly billing cost $22 x 11 = $242 plus $11, or $253, still $33 more than the $220 annual price. I would pay monthly until your volume settles, then switch to annual on the plan that fits.

A few costs sit outside the subscription line either way.

Additional ElevenLabs Costs to Consider

Taxes, top-ups past your credits and seats past 3 or 10 are the costs the plan price leaves out.

For most creators only tax and occasional top-ups matter; seats and LLM costs are for teams and agent builders to price before choosing Scale or Business.

How Much Does ElevenLabs Cost for Your Usage?

For most creators the bill is the plan whose monthly credits cover their characters: up to 30,000 a month fits Starter ($6 x 12 = $72 a year on monthly billing), up to 121,000 fits Creator, and up to 600,000 fits Pro.

ElevenLabs cost calculator

This calculator needs JavaScript. The scenario table below gives the same estimate for typical workloads.

The calculator takes your monthly characters of speech, minutes of transcription, music, voice changing and dubbing, plus the features you need, such as the commercial license or a shared workspace. It lists every plan next to your usage and marks the best fit. It leaves out tax, top-up prices and any first-month offer.

The table prices five illustrative usage levels: assumed monthly volumes of up to 10,000, 20,000, 100,000 (plus 60 minutes of transcription), 540,000 and 900,000 characters, chosen to show each plan at work, not as typical figures.

The podcaster row is the tight one: 121,000 – 119,800 = 1,200 credits spare, so one long episode pushes the month into top-ups unless rollover from a lighter month covers it. The team row shows the seat effect: three people with 900,000 characters could fit within two Pro plans’ 2 x 600,000 = 1,200,000 credits, but Scale is the cheapest plan that puts three people in one workspace.

Which ElevenLabs Plan Should You Choose?

Pick by the first gate you need, then by volume: the license points to Starter, a professional clone to Creator, shared seats to Scale and compliance to Enterprise.

A plan name answers the budget question; whether ElevenLabs deserves the money is a separate one.

Is ElevenLabs Worth the Price?

ElevenLabs is worth it for a creator who wants a Professional Voice Clone on Creator, for a creator below about 110 minutes a month on Starter plus top-ups, and for a developer on the API at $0.04 to $0.08 per 1,000 characters. Skip it if you only need non-commercial tests, or high volume on a fixed small budget.

The price feels high because the app is the expensive route: an extra app minute costs between about $0.17 and $0.36, more than twice the API’s per-minute rate. The app plans also carry Studio projects, voice slots and cloning, so a product that only needs raw audio should buy through the API. For a verdict on the product itself, read my ElevenLabs review.

Skip the paid plans if: you never publish (Free covers that), you need many seats but little speech (Scale and Business charge for seats), or your app volume grows faster than your budget, since the plans above Creator all work out to about $0.17 per minute of allowance. API volume is billed at the per-1,000-character rates in the API section instead.

If that last case is yours, my comparison of AI voice generators is where to look for a cheaper alternative. Listen to a sample of your own script on Free’s 10,000 credits before you pay. Before buying, check the exit terms too.

Billing, Refunds and Cancellation

You can cancel at any time and the plan stays active until the end of the billing cycle; under ElevenLabs’ billing terms, a refund needs a request within 14 days of payment and no credit quota used in that period.

After a cancellation takes effect, the account moves to Free and unused paid credits expire. A downgrade works the same way: it starts at the end of the cycle and forfeits unused credits. ElevenLabs takes credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and top-ups are non-refundable.

Startups can apply for the Startup Grants Program: 12 months free and 33 million characters.

How I Verified ElevenLabs Pricing

I read elevenlabs.io/pricing, the API pricing page and ElevenLabs’ billing, Pay As You Go, out-of-credits, license, models and ElevenAgents help pages, all of them read on November 1, 2026. The pricing region is the US: prices come from the pricing page’s US view, in US dollars.

Plan prices, credits, API rates and caps are the vendor’s published figures, monthly prices from the Monthly billing view and annual ones from the Yearly billing view.

Totals were calculated as my own arithmetic: the monthly price x 12 months on monthly billing, the monthly price x 10 for a year on annual billing, API costs as thousands of characters x the rate per 1,000, and the price per included minute as the monthly price / the minutes included.

The plan recommendations are my judgment from price, credits, license and plan gates.

ElevenLabs does not publish an Enterprise price, a support level for each self-serve plan, an add-on seat price or the app credit cost of Eleven v4. Its pages give two different Business concurrency figures, so this page states only that Business allows more than Pro’s 10.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any ElevenLabs discounts available for 2026?

Yes: the discounts on ElevenLabs’ own pages in 2026 are first-month pricing on monthly billing and the two free months of annual billing. On November 1, 2026, the Monthly billing view showed Starter’s first month at $1. Creator’s first month was $11 on the same view.

ElevenLabs’ billing docs say a first-month discount is valid only for the first month and is not given twice to the same customer, and that discount links work only for an account on the Free plan, with monthly billing selected at checkout.

How much does ElevenAgents cost?

Creating an agent costs nothing; calls are charged instead. Voice-only calls are billed by connection time, with a 95% discount for silences longer than 10 seconds, and multimodal and text calls add a charge per message. LLM costs are passed through separately, and going past your quota needs Pay As You Go credits.

Final Pricing Verdict

Creator at $22 a month, billed monthly, is the plan for a creator who wants a professional clone of their own voice; Starter plus top-ups covers a commercial creator below about 110 minutes a month; developers should price the API by characters, not credits.

Stay on Starter while top-ups keep your month under $22, which holds to about 110 minutes. Move to Pro for steady volume near 10 hours a month or for PCM output, and to Scale only when a second or third person needs the same workspace. Pay annually once a plan has fit for a few months. If none of these plans fits your use, compare ElevenLabs alternatives before you pay.
