Zoho CRM is the better buy for most US sales teams of 3 to 25 reps that want automated follow-up. Its Standard edition includes Cadences at $14 per user per month, billed annually, while Freshsales holds sales sequences back until Pro at $39 per user per month, billed annually.
For ten reps, that is $14 x 10 x 12 = $1,680 a year on Zoho against $39 x 10 x 12 = $4,680 on Freshsales. The Freshsales vs Zoho CRM choice tips the other way when the cheapest paid seat ($9 on Growth) or a Freshdesk help desk decides.
Quick verdict
The deciding difference is where automated follow-up starts: Cadences on Zoho CRM Standard at $14 per user per month, sales sequences on Freshsales Pro at $39, both billed annually.
Pick Zoho CRM for Cadences on the $14 Standard seat or a step-by-step blueprint (Process automation) on Professional at $23. Pick Freshsales if a $9 Growth seat with phone, chat and email is enough, or your support team runs Freshdesk.
The trade-off: Zoho holds territories and its Zia AI sales assistant for Enterprise at $40; Freshsales holds custom modules and sandbox for Enterprise at $59.

Freshsales has the cheaper entry seat, $9 against $14, but Zoho CRM costs less from the middle tier up ($23 against $39). Zoho’s edition table still says “Last updated on: June 4, 2022”, so where it disagrees with Zoho’s current pricing page, I follow the pricing page.
Key Differences Between Freshsales and Zoho CRM
- Follow-up automation: Freshsales puts sales sequences (automated emails, calls and SMS) on Pro at $39; Zoho CRM puts Cadences on Standard at $14. That is $25 less per seat on Zoho.
- Process automation: Zoho CRM Professional ($23) adds Process automation, which builds a step-by-step blueprint that guides reps at every stage. Freshsales’ pricing page lists no comparable feature on any plan.
- Free start: both list a free plan for up to 3 users, and Zoho caps its Free edition at 5,000 records. From the fourth user, the cheapest paid seat is $9 on Freshsales Growth against $14 on Zoho Standard.
- Ecosystem: Freshsales syncs contacts both ways with Freshdesk; Zoho CRM sells partial-access team user licenses for non-sales staff.
If Freshsales is the side you lean toward, my Freshsales review judges it beyond these four gates.
For the other side, my full Zoho CRM review weighs Zoho’s editions on their own.
Freshsales vs Zoho CRM: Features Compared
Cadences and audit logs start on Zoho CRM Standard ($14) and field-level security on Professional ($23); Freshsales holds sequences for Pro ($39) and the other two for Enterprise ($59). Territory management and AI scoring start on Freshsales Pro. If terms like pipeline or custom modules are new, start with what a CRM does.

Sales sequences and workflow automation
Automated follow-up starts on Zoho CRM Standard at $14 per user per month and on Freshsales Pro at $39, both billed annually. Freshsales sequences automate emails, calls and SMS; Zoho describes Cadences as multichannel lead follow-up sequences.
Below that tier, Freshsales Growth lists basic workflows, and Zoho lists workflow rules even on the Free edition. Neither pricing page publishes a step limit for sequences or Cadences.
Verdict: Follow-up automation
Zoho CRM fits a team that needs sequences on a budget: Standard holds Cadences at $14 a seat. Freshsales Pro earns its $39 only when the team also wants Freddy contact scoring, deal insights and territory management, which sit on that plan.
Process automation and customization
Zoho CRM’s Process automation builds a step-by-step blueprint that guides reps at every stage; Freshsales’ pricing page lists nothing comparable. Zoho’s Professional edition adds it, with 3 active Blueprints on Professional and 50 on Enterprise in the 2022-dated table, and Enterprise adds the approval process.
Territory management is the near-tie: $39 on Freshsales Pro against $40 on Zoho Enterprise, billed annually.
Data-model control favors Zoho too. Freshsales holds custom modules, sandbox and field-level permissions for Enterprise at $59; Zoho lists field-level security from Professional and a developer sandbox on Enterprise.
Custom modules are the open question: Zoho’s pricing page names them in a Standard feature list, while its 2022 table places them on Enterprise. Build one in Zoho’s 15-day trial before you plan around Standard.
Verdict: Process control
Zoho CRM fits a manager who wants reps guided through a step-by-step blueprint: Process automation arrives on Professional at $23, with nothing comparable listed on any Freshsales plan.
AI: Freddy vs Zia
Freshsales puts Freddy AI contact scoring and deal insights on Pro. Zoho CRM spreads AI across editions: AI agents on Standard, email intelligence on Professional and the Zia AI sales assistant on Enterprise.
Freshsales also sells a Freddy AI Agent add-on for customer-facing bots at $49 per 100 sessions, with 500 sessions once per account on paid plans.
Verdict: AI
Not enough evidence on output quality: the vendors publish where each AI feature sits, not how well it scores leads. Import the same set of your own contacts into both trials and compare the scores against deals you already know.
Email, phone and chat
Yes, reps can call and email from the entry plan of both: Freshsales Growth lists chat, email and phone, and Zoho CRM Standard lists built-in calling and mass email.
Zoho caps automated email notifications on Standard at 100 per user license or 5,000 a day, whichever is lower, so a 10-rep team stops at 1,000 a day.
Reporting and analytics
Zoho CRM Standard caps a team at 100 custom reports and 10 custom dashboards, and Professional lifts both to unlimited. Freshsales lists custom, attribution and conversion reports on its features page without naming a plan, so build the reports you need during the Freshsales trial before choosing Growth.
Freshsales vs Zoho CRM Pricing
Per seat, Freshsales is cheaper only on its entry plan; from the middle tier up, Zoho CRM costs less. The follow-up job costs $39 a seat on Freshsales Pro against $14 on Zoho CRM Standard, billed annually.
| Tier | Freshsales, billed annually | Freshsales, billed monthly | Zoho CRM, billed annually | Zoho CRM, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Free for up to 3 users | Free for up to 3 users | Free for 3 users | Free for 3 users |
| Entry | Growth $9 | Growth $11 | Standard $14 | Standard $20 |
| Middle | Pro $39 | Pro $47 | Professional $23 | Professional $35 |
| Top | Enterprise $59 | Enterprise $71 | Enterprise $40 | Enterprise $50 |
| Above top | No counterpart | No counterpart | Ultimate $52 | Ultimate $65 |

Both vendors bill per user. Freshsales labels its annual saving “Save 20%”, Zoho says “save up to 34%” with yearly plans, and Zoho adds local taxes to its listed prices.

Comparable plans side by side
| Job | Freshsales plan | Zoho CRM edition |
|---|---|---|
| Pipeline, calling and email | Growth, $9 | Standard, $14 |
| Automated follow-up sequences | Pro, $39 | Standard, $14 |
| Stage-by-stage process rules | Not listed on the pricing page | Professional, $23 |
| Quotes | Not listed on the pricing page | Professional, $23 (CPQ) |
| Territory management | Pro, $39 | Enterprise, $40 |
| Sandbox and field-level permissions | Enterprise, $59 | Enterprise, $40 |
Sources: Freshsales pricing page, Zoho CRM edition comparison, checked October 2026.
Zoho Professional includes CPQ at $23; Freshsales sells a Branded documents add-on at $19 per user per month and names no quote tool on its plans. Freshsales costs less for the plain pipeline job, and narrowly for territory management ($39 against $40).
Cost for a 5- and 10-person sales team
At list prices billed annually, Freshsales costs less in year one only on the entry tier.
| Team and tier | Freshsales plan | Freshsales per year | Zoho CRM edition | Zoho CRM per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 seats, entry | Growth | $9 x 5 x 12 = $540 | Standard | $14 x 5 x 12 = $840 |
| 5 seats, middle | Pro | $39 x 5 x 12 = $2,340 | Professional | $23 x 5 x 12 = $1,380 |
| 5 seats, top | Enterprise | $59 x 5 x 12 = $3,540 | Enterprise | $40 x 5 x 12 = $2,400 |
| 10 seats, entry | Growth | $9 x 10 x 12 = $1,080 | Standard | $14 x 10 x 12 = $1,680 |
| 10 seats, middle | Pro | $39 x 10 x 12 = $4,680 | Professional | $23 x 10 x 12 = $2,760 |
| 10 seats, top | Enterprise | $59 x 10 x 12 = $7,080 | Enterprise | $40 x 10 x 12 = $4,800 |

Assumptions: list prices in US dollars, billed annually, before Zoho’s local taxes; add-ons, extra storage, phone minutes and onboarding excluded.
The entry row flatters Freshsales, because Growth has no sequences. A five-person team that needs follow-up pays $39 x 5 x 12 = $2,340 on Freshsales Pro against $14 x 5 x 12 = $840 on Zoho Standard.
Monthly vs annual billing
Monthly billing raises Zoho CRM Professional from $23 to $35 a seat and Freshsales Enterprise from $59 to $71. At the entry tier, Zoho Standard moves from $14 to $20 and Freshsales Growth from $9 to $11, so the entry-seat gap widens when you pay monthly.
| Tier | Freshsales, billed monthly | Zoho CRM, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Growth: $11 x 10 x 12 = $1,320 | Standard: $20 x 10 x 12 = $2,400 |
| Middle | Pro: $47 x 10 x 12 = $5,640 | Professional: $35 x 10 x 12 = $4,200 |
| Top | Enterprise: $71 x 10 x 12 = $8,520 | Enterprise: $50 x 10 x 12 = $6,000 |
Sources: Freshsales pricing page (Monthly view), Zoho CRM edition comparison, checked October 2026.
Zoho states customers are “not bound by any contracts or commitments”, so a team can start monthly and switch to yearly once the CRM sticks.
Add-ons and limits that raise the bill
Freshsales charges extra for branded documents, bots and marketing contacts; Zoho CRM for storage, backups and premium support.
- Freshsales: Branded documents at $19 per user per month; Freddy AI Agent at $49 per 100 sessions.
- Freshsales Suite: marketing contacts from $100 per 5,000 contacts per month.
- Zoho CRM: file storage at $4.6 a month per 5 GB; data storage at $4 per 100 MB from Professional; backups at $12 per request; paid Premium and Enterprise support.
Zoho sells team user licenses for non-sales staff on the Zoho Store’s Add-ons page, with no price on its pricing page. Every Freshsales plan and add-on has its own breakdown.
The Zoho side gets the same treatment in Zoho CRM edition prices in detail.
What forces an upgrade on each
Freshsales forces a sales team’s first upgrade sooner, because sequences sit on Pro; Zoho CRM forces it when a manager wants Process automation, which starts on Professional.
- Freshsales Free to Growth: a fourth user.
- Freshsales Growth to Pro: sales sequences, contact scoring, territory management.
- Freshsales Pro to Enterprise: custom modules, sandbox, field-level permissions, audit logs.
- Zoho Free to Standard: a fourth user, or more than 5,000 records.
- Zoho Standard to Professional: process automation, CPQ, unlimited reports.
- Zoho Professional to Enterprise: the Zia AI sales assistant, territories, approvals.
Integrations, Ecosystem and Security
Freshsales fits a team already on Freshdesk, and Zoho CRM fits a team that wants Zoho PhoneBridge or Zoho Desk beside it. Freshsales lists two-way contact sync with Freshdesk, a Marketplace of “over 100 apps”, API access and webhooks.
Zoho’s edition table lists integrations by category from Standard, such as Ring.io, Amazon Connect, Zoho PhoneBridge and 106 others for telephony.
Both vendors publish SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO/IEC 27001. Zoho also holds a SOC 2 + HIPAA Type 2 report and lists HIPAA compliance from Standard; HIPAA is not listed on the Freshworks trust center, so a health-data team should ask Freshworks in writing first.
Zoho gives paid editions Classic support and sells Premium and Enterprise support plans; the Freshsales pricing page lists no support tiers.

Which Is Better for Your Sales Team?
Zoho CRM is the better fit for most priorities a small or mid-size sales team brings; Freshsales wins on the cheapest seat and on Freshdesk.
| Your priority | Better fit | Reason | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest seat for pipeline, calls and email | Freshsales | Growth is $9 against Standard’s $14, billed annually | Growth has no sequences |

A team that needs only a shared pipeline and phone should take Freshsales Growth; the same team adding sequences should move to Zoho Standard rather than Freshsales Pro. A team weighing more than two tools can start from my ranked list of CRM software.
If Pipedrive is also on the shortlist, Pipedrive vs Freshsales sets it against the cheaper side of this pair.
With HubSpot in the running, HubSpot vs Zoho CRM does the same for Zoho.
Should monday also be on your shortlist, monday vs Zoho CRM is the pairing to open next.
Buyers who are also looking at Salesforce can set it against the Freshsales side in Freshsales vs Salesforce.
If Keap is still a candidate, Zoho CRM vs Keap puts those two side by side.
Who should skip each
Skip Freshsales if you need sequences under $39 a seat or Process automation’s step-by-step blueprint, which Freshsales lists on no plan; Zoho fits you, or one of the other CRMs to consider instead of Freshsales.
Skip Zoho CRM if your support team runs on Freshdesk, a $9 seat covers the job, or you will pay monthly for pipeline, calling and email alone ($11 on Growth against $20 on Standard). Readers ruling Zoho out can compare Zoho CRM alternatives.
Switching Between Freshsales and Zoho CRM
Records move in both directions by file import, but automation is not on Freshsales’ import list, so a move to Freshsales means rebuilding Cadences and Blueprints by hand.
Into Freshsales, an admin uploads a zip of Zoho CRM’s CSV exports under Admin Settings > Data & Import. It imports contacts, accounts, deals, activities, tasks, appointments and notes, up to 10 pipelines; emails are not migrated from activities, and users are added by hand.
Custom fields must exist in Freshsales first, with the same name and field type. Imports above 25,000 records become a request ticket that runs in off-peak hours.
Into Zoho CRM, Freshsales exports all data as a zip file by email, up to five times a day. Zoho takes it through its data migration wizard, a CSV import or the Bulk Write API, at 10,000 records per batch on Standard and 20,000 on Professional.
Zoho’s migration guide names its import tools, not the record types they carry, so check how your Freshsales sequences arrive. Either way, back up the data and test-import a small set first, as that guide advises.
How I Compared Freshsales and Zoho CRM
This comparison rests on both vendors’ pricing pages in their annual and monthly views and Zoho’s edition table, all read on October 21, 2026. It also uses the Freshsales features and plan comparison pages, both trust or compliance pages and both vendors’ import help articles.
I compared plans by tier and by the job a sales team buys for. The facts come from those vendor pages; the cost math and plan-fit calls are my analysis.
Neither vendor publishes call-minute rates. Freshsales does not publish support tiers or report gates by plan, and Zoho does not publish a team user license price on its pricing page.
FAQ
Does Freshsales have a free plan?
Yes. Freshsales has a Free plan at $0 for up to 3 users, below Growth at $9 per user per month, billed annually. Freshsales also offers a 21-day trial, and Freshworks suspends the account when it ends unless you choose a paid plan.
How long are the free trials?
Freshsales runs a 21-day trial with no credit card required; Zoho CRM’s sign-up page offers a 15-day free trial. Use both windows for the same test: import your pipeline and build one follow-up sequence in each.
What is the difference between Freshsales and Freshsales Suite?
Freshsales Suite is the same three plans at the same per-user prices with 500 marketing contacts included. Choose Suite only if your marketing email will run from the CRM.
Final Verdict: Freshsales or Zoho CRM?
Buy Zoho CRM if your team needs Cadences on a $14 Standard seat or Process automation from $23 on Professional. Buy Freshsales if a $9 seat with phone, chat and email covers the job or your support team runs Freshdesk.
Choose Freshsales if
- Pipeline, calling, chat and email on a $9 Growth seat are the whole job
- You pay monthly on the entry tier and want $11 a seat, not $20
- Freshdesk already holds your customer contacts
Choose Zoho CRM if
- Cadences on a $14 Standard seat cover your follow-up
- You need audit logs or field-level security without paying for an Enterprise seat
- Managers want a step-by-step blueprint (Process automation), from $23 on Professional
Zoho’s Zia assistant and territories wait for Enterprise, while Freshsales asks $59 a seat before custom modules and sandbox appear. That makes Zoho the cheaper CRM for a team that will outgrow its first plan.
