Squarespace Pricing: Plans, Fees on Sales and What a Site Costs per Year

Squarespace pricing starts at $19 per site per month billed annually for Basic, with Core at $29, Plus at $49 and Advanced at $99. Billed monthly, the same four plans cost $25, $39, $65 and $139 per site per month. There is no free plan; every site starts with a 14-day free trial and no credit card.

The plan price is only part of the bill: each website needs its own plan, and the higher plans mostly buy lower fees on what you sell. Below I price one and three sites a year and find the sales volume at which each upgrade costs less overall.

Quick pricing answer

Squarespace sells four website plans, priced per site: Basic $19, Core $29, Plus $49 and Advanced $99 per month billed annually, or $25, $39, $65 and $139 billed monthly. The 14-day free trial needs no credit card; there is no free plan.

Core is my pick for a small business with more than two editors, or with store sales above $10 / 0.02 = $500 a month on annual billing, because it removes Basic’s two-contributor cap and its 2% store fee. Basic fits a site that one or two people run with no store or smaller store sales.

The cost caveat: every site needs its own plan, so three sites on Core cost $29 x 3 x 12 = $1,044 a year. Prices checked October 2026, US, in USD.

These are the US-dollar prices of Squarespace’s US pricing page, read in both billing views in October 2026. Each price covers one website, and state and local taxes are added at checkout when your account is subject to them. Squarespace shows the pricing page in the visitor’s own currency, so readers outside the US see other figures.

Billed annually, the step between plans runs from $29 – $19 = $10 to $99 – $49 = $50 a month, so the real question is what each step buys.

Squarespace Pricing Plans Explained

Basic covers a solo site, Core is where team editing and integrations start, and Plus and Advanced mostly buy lower fees on what you sell. The table holds the differences that change the bill or the workflow.

Basic: $19 per month billed annually

Basic is enough for a portfolio, blog or small service site run by one or two people who sell little. It costs $19 per site per month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly, and caps the site at 2 contributors, 30 minutes of video and 10 AI credits granted once.

The price of staying on Basic is the fees on sales its pricing table lists: 2% on store sales and 7% on digital content and memberships, on top of card processing at 2.9% + $0.30.

Basic also leaves out code injection, store discounts, Zapier and Mailchimp. Move up when a third person needs to edit the site or the store starts selling in volume.

Core: $29 per month billed annually

For $29 – $19 = $10 more a month, Core removes the two limits small businesses hit first on Basic: contributors become unlimited and the store transaction fee drops to 0%. It also adds code injection, Zapier and marketing tools such as promotional pop-ups, Google Shopping listings, Meta Pixel ads and Mailchimp.

Core includes one free Google Workspace Business Starter inbox for the first year and 20 AI credits a month. It costs $29 per site per month billed annually, or $39 billed monthly.

Its weak spot is digital selling: courses and memberships still carry a 5% fee, and cards cost the same rate as on Basic. For a business site with a team, Core is where I would start.

Plus: $49 per month billed annually

Plus is a plan for sellers of courses, memberships and limited releases, not for a busier brochure site. It adds the reserved cart & timer from the page’s “Sell in releases” group, which Core lacks.

On Squarespace’s plan pricing table, the digital fee drops to 1% from Core’s 5%, and the standard card rate falls to 2.7% + $0.30. Plus costs $49 per site per month billed annually, or $65 billed monthly. Without digital sales or release drops, the $49 – $29 = $20 monthly gap over Core buys little.

Advanced: $99 per month billed annually

Advanced earns its $99 – $49 = $50 monthly premium over Plus only at high sales volume. It has the lowest standard card rate, no digital content fee, unlimited video storage and 120 AI credits a month, plus your own carrier account for carrier-calculated shipping.

Advanced costs $99 per site per month billed annually, or $139 billed monthly. Squarespace’s plan guide aims it at larger ecommerce stores processing high order volumes, and the break-even math below agrees.

Start the 14-day trial and choose the plan when you are ready.

Does Squarespace Have a Free Plan or Trial?

No, Squarespace has no free plan, but every website starts with a 14-day free trial that needs no credit card. You can upgrade to a paid plan during or after the trial.

Use the 14 days to settle what a pricing page cannot: whether a template fits your business and whether the editor suits the person who will update the site. Then pick the plan from your contributor count and expected sales.

A trial site in Squarespace’s iOS app can also move to a Mobile Start plan, a paid plan, bought in the app, without a recurring subscription; the pricing page does not list its price.

Monthly vs Annual Squarespace Pricing

Annual billing saves from ($25 – $19) x 12 = $72 a year on Basic to ($139 – $99) x 12 = $480 on Advanced, per site, and adds one year of free domain registration for a new website.

Basic$25 per month$19 per month$25 x 12 = $300$19 x 12 = $228$300 – $228 = $72
Core$39 per month$29 per month$39 x 12 = $468$29 x 12 = $348$468 – $348 = $120
Plus$65 per month$49 per month$65 x 12 = $780$49 x 12 = $588$780 – $588 = $192
Advanced$139 per month$99 per month$139 x 12 = $1,668$99 x 12 = $1,188$1,668 – $1,188 = $480

Sources: Squarespace’s pricing page, Pay monthly and Pay annually views, checked October 2026.

In percentage terms the saving runs from ($25 – $19) / $25 = 24% on Basic to ($139 – $99) / $139 = 28.8% on Advanced. The pricing page’s banner says “Pay annually to save up to 36%”, but none of these four plans reaches that with its own prices, so budget from the table, not the banner.

Monthly billing still suits a site with a short or uncertain life, such as an event page. A plan change or cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, so an annual cycle keeps you paying for the full year.

Once the site sells anything, the plan price stops being the whole bill.

Additional Squarespace Costs to Consider

On top of the plan, Squarespace charges fees on what you sell, and the domain and Google Workspace become separate paid subscriptions once their free first year ends.

With another payment processor, that processor’s own fees replace the card rates above. From one plan to the next, the store and digital fees drop by 1 to 4 points, while the standard card rate drops by at most 0.2 points, which is why the fee gaps drive the upgrade math below.

How Much Does Squarespace Cost for Your Site?

A Squarespace budget is the plan price x the number of sites x 12 months: one business site on Core costs $29 x 1 x 12 = $348 a year before fees on sales and tax.

The last row is where per-site billing bites: a three-site business pays three full Core plans, and the pricing page lists no multi-site discount.

When a higher plan costs less overall

Core costs $29 – $19 = $10 a month more than Basic, billed annually. Basic’s 2% store fee reaches that $10 annual-billing gap at store revenue of $500 a month ($10 / 0.02 = $500), so above that volume a store on Core costs less overall.

Basic’s 7% digital fee against Core’s 5%, both on the pricing page, gives the same threshold for course and membership revenue.

On monthly billing the gap widens to $39 – $25 = $14, which moves the store-fee break-even to store revenue of $700 a month ($14 / 0.02 = $700).

Plus costs $49 – $29 = $20 a month more than Core, billed annually. Its digital fee is 4 points lower, so Plus wins on digital revenue above $20 / 0.04 = $500 a month. On card payments alone, its 0.2-point lower rate needs card revenue of $10,000 a month ($20 / 0.002 = $10,000).

Advanced costs $99 – $49 = $50 a month more than Plus, billed annually. The 1-point digital fee gap covers that at digital revenue of $5,000 a month ($50 / 0.01 = $5,000), and the card gap at card revenue of $25,000 a month ($50 / 0.002 = $25,000), with Squarespace Payments only.

Which Squarespace Plan Should You Choose?

Choose Basic for a solo site with no store, Core for a team or a store selling above $10 / 0.02 = $500 a month on annual billing, and Plus or Advanced only when your sales volume covers their higher price.

Most readers land on the first two rows, and the gap between them is one question: will more than two people edit the site, or will it sell?

Is Squarespace Worth the Price?

Squarespace is worth the price for a small business that wants hosting, a store and payments in one plan and stays on Basic or Core. Every plan includes managed cloud hosting, SSL security and 24/7 customer support, so a Core site at $348 a year has no separate hosting bill. For how the editor works, read my Squarespace review.

The downside of Squarespace’s pricing is per-site billing: five Core sites cost $29 x 5 x 12 = $1,740 a year. For a high-volume store past the break-even volumes above, the fees on sales can matter more than the plan price. To compare another builder’s plans, see my Wix pricing guide.

Skip it if:
you run many small sites, or you sell digital products but want to stay on Basic, whose digital fee is the highest of the four plans.

For a low-priced brochure site, see my ranking of the best website builders for small business.

Billing, Discounts and Cancellation

Squarespace discounts apply to your first payment only, and the next renewal is charged at full price. Discounts do not combine; when two apply, Squarespace uses whichever saves you more.

You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel a plan at any time. Changes take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and a cancelled site keeps running through the period already paid. Downgrading removes features the lower plan lacks.

A price increase reaches you on your next renewal date, not on the effective date in Squarespace’s notice email. State and local taxes apply to subscriptions and appear at checkout if your account is subject to tax.

Eligible students can get a discount through Squarespace’s student program, whose amount the pricing page does not print. Because any discount covers one payment, budget from the full renewal price.

How I Verified Squarespace Pricing

Every price here is the United States price in US dollars from Squarespace’s pricing page, read in both billing views (Pay monthly and Pay annually) on October 28, 2026. The live page shows each visitor prices in their own currency, so I read the US view from the Internet Archive’s copy dated October 22, 2026.

Fees and plan limits come from the same page; the per-site rule, taxes and discount terms come from the help article “Choose the right Squarespace plan”, read the same day.

Totals are price x sites x 12, savings compare the two billing views, and each break-even is the price gap divided by the fee gap. Prices are published figures; totals and break-evens are my calculations.

Squarespace does not publish, on these pages, the domain or Google Workspace renewal price after the free year, the student discount amount or a Mobile Start price. Older plans are out of scope; Squarespace covers them in its legacy billing help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay separately for each Squarespace site?

Yes. A website plan covers one site, and each extra site has its own plan and billing cycle, so the plans can differ. A store on Plus and a portfolio on Basic bill as two subscriptions, $49 and $19 per month on annual billing.

Does Basic include Google Workspace email?

No. The pricing page lists professional email from Google Workspace as not included on Basic. Core, Plus and Advanced include one free inbox on Google Workspace Business Starter for the first year, and after that Google Workspace is a separate Squarespace subscription.

Is hosting included in Squarespace plans?

Yes. All Squarespace plans include fully managed cloud hosting and unlimited bandwidth, so there is no separate hosting fee to add to the plan price.

Final Pricing Verdict

Final recommendation

Start most small businesses on Core at $29 per site per month billed annually. It lifts the two-contributor cap and drops Basic’s 2% store fee, which outgrows the $29 – $19 = $10 monthly gap once store revenue passes $500 a month.

Choose Basic only if one or two people run a site that sells little. Move to Plus for course or membership sales above $20 / 0.04 = $500 a month or timed releases, and to Advanced only once digital revenue passes about $5,000 a month or card revenue passes $25,000, billed annually.
